Oooh! I've stayed away from Artemis Fowl simply because the hype over here when the first books were released didn't appeal to me at all (basically, I got the impression that it was like Harry Potter with an asshole antihero).

But you have a lot of the same buttons as I do, and what you describe above would definitely push my buttons! I have to look into this. ^__^
