Reading the Percy Jackson books back to back with Artemis Fowl - yes, blah is the word. Eoin Colfer's prose sometimes is a bit clumsy but it's often clever and occasionally brilliantly hilarious, and his action is pretty much always awesome and vivid (and I'm not a big fan of reading action, even if I enjoy writing it!) Rather disappointed that Percy got a movie and Artemis hasn't (yet). (Though I want it to be animated/CGI; live action couldn't do it justice as you'd never find a kid who could really pull off Artemis. Not to mention the fairies - dwarves especially - wouldn't really work in live action but would be great animated...)
