I agree, if McKeller had stayed in the back and been subtle, I probably wouldn't have minded it that much, after all I never felt bad about Rodney going out with Katie.
And I agree even more on the fact that it took over everything in the show. I miss Teyla a lot, it feels like she's not been in this season at all, Ronon is wallpaper at best, and there is a very obvious problem when even the lead of the show is suddenly pushed in the back to give more screentime to what is essentially a secondary character. I won't even talk about Zelenka and Lorne, who have been completely under-used, nor about Chuck who apparently decided to cross-dress and be called Amelia.
but several of the most recent episodes have definitely had the McKeller instead of John-Rodney (slash or friendship, however you want to read it) - as if one is replacing the other, and a lot of fans are reacting to that.
Yes to that too. No matter if you are a McShep or if you just like the interaction and friendship between those two, but it essentially is what has been supporting the show from the very beginning. And this season it was completely yanked out, apart from in the Shrine, which ironically, instead of making things easier made them harder : why show us how strong their friendship is and then suddenly forget all about it and make them strangers again ?
