There's a difference between the canon of a show and the multitude of interpretations through fanfic. I like to keep the two separate. SGA was about friendship and adventure. Now it's about romance, one step from a soap opera in space/on another planet, and that's not what I'm watching sci-fi for.
Yes, yes and yes again. I have been accused of not liking the McKeller because I was a McShepper. But the truth is that I like the subtelty and I wouldn't really want to see McShep on screen any more than any other ship. If I want romance, I read fanfiction, because the fanfiction writers (at least in this fandom) are a billion times better at writing romance than any of the official writers. If I want romance I can tune in on any channel at anytime of the day, in any country on the planet, there is romance all the time everywhere, was it really so much to ask that it didn't enter the domain of our sci-fi show ?
