Oh Luffy. Oh, oh Luffy. His crew really must sit him down and ask for his whole family tree. (Because this doesn't necessarily rule out the Gold Roger relation thing - is Garp a D, after all? Luffy must have two grandpas...and J-chan pointed out that starcrossed love between the child of Roger and his arch-enemy might be classic enough for Odacchi to go for it...)

Also...is Franky not coming with them, then? has he been built up as a char because he's going to be their ship builder? because he wasn't saying anything about coming with them, when he said he was gonna give them the ship. So want to know.

Was thinking exactly the same thing about Roger and Garp, actually!! It'd be awesome, and classic Odacchi - because he loves the classics. Romeo and Juliet of the seas... It'd love that, it's actually better than almost anything I've been able to imagine of Luffy's past and family and - YES! Crew, SIT DOWN and make him TELL YOU THINGS. He would have, if you'd only thought to ask him, before...

Franky! Is giving them a ship and I don't think he wants to sail it - not when he's gotta help Iceburg make Water 7 a floating city! So the new nakama will be the ship! And much, much love to your vision of Luffy talking to it - it's perfect Luffy. ♥ Don't you dare say you're bad at writing him - he's impossible, and you're not perfect, but you're damned good. You've got him down as much as is humanly possible without being Oda.

And to prove it - yes! I had the same thought about Franky! Iceburg will need help with that project (eeee to the project too, such the perfect and insane solution. Have I mentioned lately how much I love Iceburg? It bears repeating. He might be my second favorite non-nakama, after Smoker. ...umm, and Ace. And Shanks. And...dammit, Odacchi, you have too many characters that must be adored!!!)

...Dammit, I stared at those two frames of those chins for like 5 minutes, just giggling for sheer glee. He's bringing everyone back...there's gonna be a gathering and it's just the bestest thing ever. So. Much. Love! <3

Of course Iceburg will need help! And then they'll make Water 7 into a Floating City and somehow keep away from the government, which is certainly out to get both Franky and Iceburg now. Unless, of course, Luffy proves to be the perfect distraction, and draws all of their forces...

Anyway! Yes! I do love Iceburg, very very much. ♥ And it's just wonderful to see him with Franky, with all the history they have, and how much they love each other and now they have this fantastic project in Tom's memory... Awww. So much love!

YES! I saw them and went into hopeless spasm of flailing and squee - he's bringing them back, they're back, and they're serving LUFFY'S GRANDPA, and they won't have to be enemies because of the orders of some Marine Bad Guy - they can be Rivals, and Enemies with a capital E. With their honor as men at stake! It's - wow. Wow. WOW!

As soon as I saw the Vice Admiral, I was going, hey, he's the guy who trained Coby & Helmeppo! So I got it pretty quickly. Then went back and checked their original char designs to be sure (I remembered 'meppo's chin, so was sure about him - Coby looks totally different but who else would it be? ^___^)

Well, 3 months is a rough estimate, it's never been said exactly how long they've been in the Grand Line (has it?). Besides, Bon Clay got hot in significantly less time. There is hope! XD

Oh, you knew the Jii-chan thing was going to come up eventually!! Oda answers all...eventually. And again I don't think anyone was predicting this one (even though someone just pointed out that in the original pilot, Luffy's grandpa had the same char design as Garp, and bwaha Oda-sensei you are such a genius, to put it right under our noses all along...!)

I don't think there's been a definite answer yet (I'd have to check the SBSes), but in the AP forums people were guesstimating how much time had passed in the story and it is somewhere between 3-4 months, going by Nami's costume changes. At most, 6 months.

Good point about Bon Clay, though. It's just also one of Oda's favorite visual gags to do the 'look, they might be hot--oh wait, they're totally weird looking!' bait-and-switch. So consider me... cautiously optimistic. XD;

And I KNEW he'd answer the Jii-chan question someday. I just wasn't counting on SO SOON. And you're right, in the original Romance Dawn, Grandpa = Garp. Goddamn you Oda. You're so sly. I love you.
