SGA 5x07: "Whispers"

Okay, when John started with "I didn't realize you, uh..." to Major Teldey, show of hands that what he actually was going to say was, "I didn't realize you were a lesbian," because it's one thing to select women you probably know personally and are comfortable/confident with for your team, and another to specifically choose supermodels? Not that I've got anything against hot soldier girls, it just seems like their particular team aesthetics are bucking the odds a bit.

Also, what exactly is Carson doing now? Is he going back to Earth/SGC, or is he sticking around Pegasus to help out, just not on Atlantis? With the Athosians or what? He was weirdly vague about his actual destination.

Dusty was great fun, and best reason ever to come to Pegasus, to kill bad things. She should totally hook up with Amelia. Minor chars of awesome femmeslash for the win!

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] naye just reminded me - Michael has a logo! His own iratus-bug logo!!! He's so sent in his application to the Evil League of Evil, hasn't he?

Also, in response to various complaints I've seen, everything else about the ep is explained by how the creatures were emitting weird fog with unknown effects, one of which obviously was to make people act as dumb as if they're in a horror movie. Which, really, for an advanced predator, makes a lot of sense!

Is he going back to Earth/SGC, or is he sticking around Pegasus to help out, just not on Atlantis?

My impression is that he's staying in Pegasus to help the plague victims. And I would really like to know how he talked the IOA into this, although it's possible that they were thrilled to have the whole "dead guy's clone" problem taken off their hands.

I kept feeling in this episode like it was a total setup for fanfic, because all the stuff that's actually interesting was either ignored or only hinted at. Carson running around the Pegasus galaxy as some kind of rogue field doctor, or Carson dealing with the IOA/SGC and all the paperwork from being dead, is WAY more interesting than a bad zombie movie. Ditto for six months of baby Torren, or for the fallout from Vega's death, or what Teyla/Ronon/Rodney were doing while Sheppard was zombie-hunting (not to mention trying to explain when he gets back). It's like the episode was MADE for tags!

That episode wasn't made for tags. It was made to be totally rewritten by people who can actually write.

Yeaaaah, that's what we were wondering, if that is what Carson is doing. Why weren't they more specific about it, if so? Strange to leave it so vague, unless when JM wrote the ep he wasn't sure what they were going to do with Carson next, so left it open? (Though if Carson's still in Pegasus, you'd think they could call on him whenever they need his science skills, which is unfair to Keller, since "Kindred 2" and "The Seed" pretty much established that Carson does it better...)

The six months I liked - you figure it would've taken Sheppard a month to recover from getting re-stabbed in "The Seed", and "The Shrine" covered close to a month in itself...the season's been busy enough, I can see it being this long.

--Ahh, Mallozzi just posted the longer version of the first Rodney-Carson scene on his blog, and yes, Carson is sticking around the galaxy to help Hoffan drug victims - the "Pegasus version of Doctors without Borders" Mallozzi called it.
