Okay, when John started with "I didn't realize you, uh..." to Major Teldey, show of hands that what he actually was going to say was, "I didn't realize you were a lesbian," because it's one thing to select women you probably know personally and are comfortable/confident with for your team, and another to specifically choose supermodels? Not that I've got anything against hot soldier girls, it just seems like their particular team aesthetics are bucking the odds a bit.

Also, what exactly is Carson doing now? Is he going back to Earth/SGC, or is he sticking around Pegasus to help out, just not on Atlantis? With the Athosians or what? He was weirdly vague about his actual destination.

Dusty was great fun, and best reason ever to come to Pegasus, to kill bad things. She should totally hook up with Amelia. Minor chars of awesome femmeslash for the win!

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] naye just reminded me - Michael has a logo! His own iratus-bug logo!!! He's so sent in his application to the Evil League of Evil, hasn't he?

Also, in response to various complaints I've seen, everything else about the ep is explained by how the creatures were emitting weird fog with unknown effects, one of which obviously was to make people act as dumb as if they're in a horror movie. Which, really, for an advanced predator, makes a lot of sense!

I have to admit that Sheppard's attitude to the team when he met them irked me. I mean, he's the military leader of Atlantis, for pete's sake, and he never had any problems with working for or with women so his "oh, you are all women" was so out of character :(

Yeah, that was kind of weird. I mean, it's obvious now that he passes all his paperwork off to Lorne, but you'd think he would at least now all his officers (and perhaps, their gender?).

That's true. Another fannish thing canonized - Lorne is doing the paperwork XP

But I really hate it when the writers make Sheppard so OOC. Like when Martin Gero dropped the mensa thing because, according to him, nobody believed that Sheppard could be that smart anyway.

I swear, the only less-OOC explanation for Sheppard's reaction that I can come up with is that he was reacting, not to them being women, but to them all being unusually supermodel-esque women, with their hair and make-up perfect and all. That surprised me a bit, so I can't blame John for blinking...

But look at the team he works with every day! You'd think he'd be so used to being surrounded by total hotness all the time that he'd hardly bat an eye. *g*

Ahh, but when he first met Teyla, she had the wig of horror, and when he first met Ronon he was all smudged, and we know first impressions are everything for John! (it wasn't the hotness, see, it was the makeup that did it...!)

...I maintain that he wasn't surprised, just worried that Major Teldy was going to run afoul of DADT, as she wasn't exactly being subtle about her predilections XP

You could say that they transferred in during Rodney's illness, and John had handed everything over to Lorne during that time so as to be able to spend all his time with Rodney. He just hasn't had a chance to catch up with everything and everyone yet (not to mention his sleep). :D

Ok, it's weak - but it's a try. *grin*

Well, it's been at least a week since "The Shrine" - since Rodney says Carson's been there for a week - but otherwise, yes, I like this explanation!!

It's been more than a week as Rodney doesn't have a hole in his head (or even a scar by the looks of it, huh, lucky guy!).

Dusty was possibly the best thing about that episode (maybe except for the "cardio funk" line).

Yeah the evil logo is also pretty sweet. Maybe's he hoping that it'll throw John off his game every time he sees it? It's the only explanation I can think of for John's craptastic plan to kill all the experiments (the signal is going to be the big boom, and as I'm running away, I want you to shoot every thing that moves...).

Hm. The only two things I liked were John complaining about rubbery legs after 800 years of stasis (we finally know how long he was in stasis for!) and his order to the team to stop touching stuff "because last thing he needs is another 3 tons of rubble falling on his head". XD.

Ok, and the "prom queen and the kid in the wheelchair". *g*

Hee, yes...Sheppard had a few good lines, at least. (and when complaining about the rubble falling, and the doctor said she'd taken care of that, and John gets all suspicious because she's claiming to do something McKay couldn't and he don't buy that...!)

Is he going back to Earth/SGC, or is he sticking around Pegasus to help out, just not on Atlantis?

My impression is that he's staying in Pegasus to help the plague victims. And I would really like to know how he talked the IOA into this, although it's possible that they were thrilled to have the whole "dead guy's clone" problem taken off their hands.

I kept feeling in this episode like it was a total setup for fanfic, because all the stuff that's actually interesting was either ignored or only hinted at. Carson running around the Pegasus galaxy as some kind of rogue field doctor, or Carson dealing with the IOA/SGC and all the paperwork from being dead, is WAY more interesting than a bad zombie movie. Ditto for six months of baby Torren, or for the fallout from Vega's death, or what Teyla/Ronon/Rodney were doing while Sheppard was zombie-hunting (not to mention trying to explain when he gets back). It's like the episode was MADE for tags!

That episode wasn't made for tags. It was made to be totally rewritten by people who can actually write.

Yeaaaah, that's what we were wondering, if that is what Carson is doing. Why weren't they more specific about it, if so? Strange to leave it so vague, unless when JM wrote the ep he wasn't sure what they were going to do with Carson next, so left it open? (Though if Carson's still in Pegasus, you'd think they could call on him whenever they need his science skills, which is unfair to Keller, since "Kindred 2" and "The Seed" pretty much established that Carson does it better...)

The six months I liked - you figure it would've taken Sheppard a month to recover from getting re-stabbed in "The Seed", and "The Shrine" covered close to a month in itself...the season's been busy enough, I can see it being this long.
