(For completing the epilogue I rewarded myself by watching the last 2 eps of Gintama, which I hadn't seen. OMGWTFBBQ ^^;;; I love how there is NO POSSIBLE WAY to predict how any given plot is going to turn out. From Santa Claus to schoolgirl shoujo...with cockroaches...Sorachi-sensei, you are a depraved individual and I <3 you forever. April cannot come soon enough. Need mooooore!)

Ack, all I need for Xmas is better time-management skills! But I finally finished my Yuletide story (first draft, anyway) and it's even about the size I projected, which is a first - usually my stories end up about twice as long as I expect them to be. Case in point, I figured "Pandemonium" would be over by 40K words. Um, yeah...

I blame any OOC here on Zura: while the other chars are reluctant to get serious, Katsura gleefully seizes the opportunity - give him a dramatic inch and he'll take an epic mile. And I let him get away with it because I'm rather more fond of him than I really ought to be. (Honestly, Zura might be my favorite Ishida Akira character...!)

We had a snowstorm! ...well, okay, back in Massachusetts it barely would've counted as more than flurries. But for Seattle 3 inches is practically a blizzard. After last year's snow-less winter it was a surprise - a happy one, mostly, as I kind of miss snow, though it's making holiday preparations a bit trickier.

Speaking of snow - no, wait, there's no logical segue here. Oh well, it's Gintama, who needs logic! Have a new chapter instead! The story's starting to change gears now...just got to do it smoothly enough that the chars don't notice they're suddenly in a whole new genre...

Took a nap today, dreamed I was watching a new ep of Gintama. Rather annoying to wake up and realize I couldn't just go watch the end!

Ff.net seems to have crashed? No matter - boldly I soldier onward! Zura makes his first appearance, and the plot slowly thickens, though it needs a bit more heat and stirring to congeal...

So! I have - not quite finished it, but am on the epilogue, which is close enough to begin posting. Consider this a sort-of WiP; the first draft is pretty much done, but I take long enough to edit that I'll be posting in parts. It's somewhat over 60K words in total - the longest fic I've completed in a couple of years! \o/

This is completely indulgent; I wrote it so that later I would have the Gintama fic I wanted to read. Big thanks to naye, gnine, and snarkydame, for encouraging me to go through with it anyway.

Warning: I love the cracktastic humor of the series; I love the moments of epic drama as well. So this starts out silly, but that is not the tone maintained throughout the story entire. Also watch out for random Japanese jokes and references - I'll annotate the major ones; I can try to explain the others (though some might only make sense in my head anyway.)

As always, any and all comments appreciated more than I can say.
