Today's lessons for the Yorozuya trio: Beware of Greeks bearing gifts, don't count your chickens before they're hatched, and be careful when life seems too good to be true, because it might be a sign that everything is soon going to go very, very badly.

XD XD XD Ah, Okita. And Okita and Shinpachi interaction! It pretty much never happens in canon, and yet it would be so interesting! Ah well, Gin-san is the main character and all...

And Gintoki sat with them, only sitting, only watching, holding a useless sword, while the ash choked him.

;_: you really are following canon - whenever there's a scene or mention of Shouyou-sensei, it's a pretty sure indication that that gorilla is going tear readers hearts out. You have a very delicate touch with the sadness there - like in canon (and I'm saying that so often, I know -__-;;), it doesn't quite tip over into angst, because that just isn't Gintoki.

...And if I keep on going, I'll pretty much be quoting your whole chapter at you. What I'm particularly enjoying about this fic is that it's so dense - even more than your Saiyuki fic, something is happening with every sentence, and there are so many delightful details, like the small jobs the Yorozuya take in between (the missing toy rabbit was located in her neighbor's tree-house, having tea with his toy tiger - whoops, there I go quoting again), and the mixture of the serious with the funny - Gin-chan can't have a traumatic past flashback without having drool all over his face, no ^^;.

Hee - I don't think there's an interaction between any set of chars in this series that wouldn't be interesting, they're all so much fun! But Shinpachi and Okita appeals to...well, my sadistic side, I suppose. ^^; It's true that we don't get much of it, even though we've seen Shin-chan with the other three Shinsengumi...

Ahhh, Shouyou-sensei...yes, those little heartbreaking fragments of flashback are so tantalizing, and I confess I love them.

Yes, the storyline always kicks up a notch whenever we get another appearance from Shouyou-sensei ^__^ can't help but love them.

Aha, the fic is so very enjoyable, I figure the least I can do is respond accordingly? I'm glad you're able to make sense of my comments - I feel I'm mostly just repeating I ♥ GINTAMA, I ♥ GEN, I ♥ THAT YOU'RE WRITING GEN FOR GINTAMA SO SPECTACULARLY WELL ad nauseum.

Eee, never apologize, waking up to all these fantastic comments filling my inbox was so awesome, I can't even tell you! Knowing that someone is enjoying reading this story this much makes it all worthwhile ^__^

And so so glad that you like the gen-ness, and the Shinpachi & Kagura bits, and such, because they're some of my favorite things about the series, and I'm happy to know I'm pulling them off, and also so happy to know I'm not the only one who loves them! ^_^

That's exactly what the Yorozuya going to the police would be like. XD Great banter between all of them (I especially love Okita scaring the hell out of Shinpachi and getting into a poking fight with Kagura)!

And aww, Gintoki is not just having insomnia, but also angsty flashbacks and PTS reactions, and he's still being very much our Gin-san. ♥ And rushing off like that, that can't be good...

...and now I'll have to wait for the next chapter. ^^;

Ooooh the plot is thickening...everything is playing out like a normal Gintama episode (with serious undertones) and I'm loving it so, so much.

I especially loved Yorozuya's interactions with Zura and the Shinsengumi. And the census-taking idea was brilliant and hilarious. Oh Hasegawa...he knows that hiring the trio would bring him nothing but trouble, but he still does it because no one else would be willing to help him with his weird on-and-off occupations, lol.
