SGA fic: more Pern-fic! oh noes!

So I'm supposed to be working on my story for [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon, but after a bit of a rough start on that, I went and wrote this instead. Oops?

It's a sequel to On the Wings of Imagination, aka Rodney's accidental Impression, aka the SGA/Pern fusion AU of DOOM. (Not, mind, the sequel I intended to write, which will go somewhere between that first story and this one). As such, warnings for a bit of crack, and h/c, and also cute overload. Seriously, I fear I've been writing too much angst lately, and this happened as some kind of reaction. Diabetics beware.

SGA: With Healing in His Wings {~6,900 words}
PG; SGA/Pern fusion, h/c, fluff
In which a certain bronze-rider and his very special dragon visit a hold, make a couple new friends, and undermine civilization as we know it; and Rodney eats something he shouldn't have.

Oh dear! I don't know how I managed to entirely miss the first one of these, but I nearly died when I saw this post this afternoon. Had to go to the original first. Have just finished that, and it made a great break in a tiring and busy work day. As with everyone else who commented both on the first story and on this one so far, I love how you managed to perfectly maintain Rodney's, Sheppard's, and Teyla's characters and voices in the Pern universe, as well as so totally capture the enchanting feel of Pern and a Hatching and McCaffrey's books. I loved,
"No--nonono no NO!" he said 'succinctly.' The hatchling cocked his head to the other side. Yes, he replied even more succinctly."
Great fun! I enjoyed it way too much! Can't wait to read the new one later this evening.

Have now read the new one, too. Very cute and fluffy and fun. Is Miko an OC, or should I be remembering her from either Pern or SGA? 'Cuz if so, I don't. I quite enjoyed Rodney's interactions with her. Shepparth's fierce protection of R'ney is very nice, and Carson is... just very Carson. You know how I love him ("Beastie" is perfect!). Also love the references to O'Neill and Danielth and R'dek (his name works very nicely; very Pernish) and Lornth (although somehow I see Radek with a female dragon). Great fun!

I hope the joy in writing these is truly breaking you out of your general mid-winter writing slump and that getting them out of your system will help you focus on the stories you truly want to tell now that spring is here. {{{BIG HUGS}}}

So glad you enjoyed both of them! I posted the previous one on my lj, but I wrote it back in January, so that might be how you missed it...(seems like you weren't the only one to ^^) They're very silly, I know, but fun. And very fast to write.

Miko is from a single SGA ep, which is why you don't know her (in "Letters from Pegasus" she's the shy Japanese scientist who leaves a message to her parents, mostly talking about her terrible crush on Dr. McKay) but she's pretty popular in fanon. Since she gets all of 5 minutes screentime in the show she's practically an OC.

And R'dek's name does work too well, no? He couldn't really have a female dragon - the only female dragons men can Impress are the greens, and I wanted him on a higher class dragon than that.

I'm hoping to enter my spring writing-spurt myself! For now though there's dinner (J's making meatballs!)
