The last week was pretty spectacular - gnine was here, because naye and friendshipper were also coming to town, and we gathered together for several days of wild fangirling and squee and general hijinx. So much fun, I can't even say! (Even if skuldchan sadly couldn't make it, so we missed the opportunity to tease her and naye about being overly adorable)(okay, we got in a little teasing anyway, because seriously, adooooorable! XD) (And friendshipper's husband happened to hit it off with my bro; they spent most of the time jabbering in computer-geek lingo at least as incomprehensible as our fangirling and playing Go.) So yes, definitely have to do it again sometime!!

There was White Collar squee, and Highlander DVD extras (multiple takes of the Comes a Horseman car confrontation are all the more interesting when gnine & I still have the original scene memorized. Eheheh.) We also inflicted a bit of Gintama on friendshipper (she laughed! Though we didn't get to either the drama or the real crack...next time!) And she in turn subjected us to Sanctuary: The Tesla Edition (on the one hand, omg such a bad show; the writing makes SGA look like...well, not Shakespeare, but Star Trek, at least? OTOH, Tesla is indeed made of snarky swishy vampiric awesome. Plus Amanda Tapping! And Chris Heyerdahl! And Peter Wingfield!! I would so be watching the show anyway if it were all about them and less about pretty young people who can't act.)

Now I have to settle back into regular life. ...And catch up on the last Homestuck update. (in which OMG ROSE! DAVE!!! I knew it would go down like that, I just knew it, and I even vaguely wondered if that was the deal with Rose and the yarn ball on this page - but still. OW NOOOOO ROOOOOOSE!!! ...Who is still alive. WTFWTFWTF IS GOING ON NEED MOOOOORE! But Dave, not telling Jade the future to avoid dooming her to an off-alpha timeline. And being so pissed with Rose for going and he says it's just about the triteness but it really isn't at all. Ow and aww. Also Davesprite and Jadesprite are kind of perfect for each other? Also also John & Vriska are, umm, way too cute for their own good. With the jacket-sharing and the not-a-date nervousness and really, Vriska doesn't deserve anyone as sweet as John but she knows it, so. (And maybe they can stay together, both, uh, being dead and all?)(It occurs to me that one of the reasons the HS pairings work for me is because they're based more on emotional and intellectual connections than physical attraction, especially given that a lot of chars have barely or never met in person...)

AND AWAKE. WTF. Ughhh, I am not made for keeping up with this series in real time (especially when he gives us huge update dumps and then goes silent for another week!!! augh!)

The Vriska/John not-date is really confusing my emotions. >.< I keep wanting to not like her-- she is not a nice person! she's done terrible things!-- but the way John doesn't seem to care makes me (almost) not care, and, and... and dangit, they're cute!

Tangentially: We never did find out *why* Rose went grimdark, did we? I didn't miss something?

I thought the reason she snapped and went grimdark was that she saw Jack killing her mom at some point...? Or am I getting confused (again!)?

I thought-- and I am deliberately not going to check here, because if I open it up I will start rereading and then I will never make it to bed!-- but I thought I remembered the sequence of events being: a) she asks the cueball what the gods in the Furthest Ring were/what their purpose is, b) she gets an answer, which we don't see, and goes grimdark, and then c) we flash forward to her meeting up w/John?

I don't remember for sure though, which is why I asked! ;p

Well, considering the sizes of the updates the long silences make sense, but they are SOOOO HAAAAAAAARD (if useful since last week I didn't have much time for reading it anyway...now though don't want to wait anymore!!)

Yes about Vriska! I am so confused about how I feel about her, but I cannot deny that she and John are awfully cute. And right now she can't really do many bad things to him anyway, what with him already being dead and all ^^;;;

Rose's grimdarkness I recall as being a result of looking into the cueball and asking the horrorterrors if they're evil, but what actually triggered it/what she saw...no, I don't think we know?

If anyone can knock someone out with a ball of yarn, it's Rose. And the way it was handled, it just makes me squimper (again!). ^^

Rose is still alive and awake, so apparently she's physically cruising the Furthest Ring through the Dream Bubbles? Aradia mentioned earlier that that is the best way to travel out there. But wouldn't that mean Rose failed to pilot the moon after all? (Can't imagine Dave being happy to hear that!)

John and Vriska, I knoooooooow! It's so incredibly hard to figure out what to feel about Vriska, because I really can't and don't want to forgive her for being such an evil asshole, but at the same time she's aware of it, and John forgives her, and... They are very adorable together.

All these dead people hanging around... I wonder if there are separate dead versions for each dead dream self, too? o_o

Eeeeeeeeeee~! ♥ Yes, yes, it was an awesome amazing weekend-thing (hey, almost weekend?), and we need to do it again! Soon! Seattle was really pretty; I'd love to come for a proper visit one of these days. And if we could get friendshipper (+ husband!) back down, too, that would be totally fantastic.

Alright, that's what I thought happened! I'm realizing as I reread how much I missed the first time through (it took me a while to realize there was important plot information embedded in with the silly little flash games!), so I didn't know if that was yet another thing I just missed or what.

And now... hmm. So the bit with The Tumor must be even further in the future than the grimdark bit? Since she's apparently back to normal? aauuuugh all these time shenanigans are so hard to keep track of!

Yup, Xparrot is right, she went grimdark after asking the cueball about the horrorterrors, and we didn't actually get to see the answer.

But she didn't get back to normal as such - she was killed by Jack, and the Rose that is trying to deliver The Tumor right now is Rose's dream self. (though even Rose's dream self is a little bit grimdark, since she can't be seen on the trolls' computers)

Hmm - aren't Dave & Rose conversing on a moon now? So are they actually on the moon Rose is piloting? In which case, umm...okay, now I'm just confusing myself ^^;;;

The question is whether John is better for Vriska than Vriska is bad for him, and...maybe he is? And I can't help but feel a bit sorry for Vriska, because she is a product of horrible troll society...she'd have been better as a human, I think.

And considering Jade's dead dream self seemed to have been in some kind of afterlife...dead dream selves should be somewhere, I think, but maybe not in the bubbles? but who knows!

Hmm, but Rose and Dave's conversation started out as a memory when they were both in their homes, right? And then they ended up on Derse (but not the moon, because Dave severed the chain from the Derse side). And even Derse was sort of dream-like with parts of the LOFOF jungle in it, so... It does seem like it's the same kind of dream bubble as Aradia traveled in to me?

John is definitely a good influence on Vriska (just knowing that there are other ways of life seems to have made her realize just how messed up troll society is), and the worst Vriska has done to John... She got him killed to have him reach god tier, but he forgave her for that. So.

You're right about dream Jade. And if dead dream selves are out there, then there's at least one dead version of every single character. XD (I'd be happier if there was also at least one alive version of all characters, too, but...)

Hmm, but if the Derse moon is in the dream-bubbles along with Rose...?

There is the question of what happens to the dead chars with the scratch, and also with the end of the universe that Doc Scratch is trying for...the horrorterrors seem (maybe?) to believe that they're in danger from it, so the dream bubbles might be too, and in that case...aaaaaah what's going to happen!?!

But isn't Doc Scratch's end of the universe thing only in the universe that contains Alternia and the trolls? So it shouldn't affect the Incipisphere (or the universe that contains Earth for that matter). But yeah, the horrorterrors are "being slaughtered", and we really have no idea what's up with that...

On the other hand, the Furthest Ring seems to be kind of everywhere and not care more about universes than it does about regular space and time.

Oh, and Jade's mysterious plan seems to have been partly hatched by a "Reliable informant", so Scratch is up to his neck in everything that happens.

Did you notice the thing about the "yard", by the way? AH says that he's going to intervene in the story directly for exactly one yard... and Karkat says the plan involves crossing a "yellow lawnring". Which is like... okay! XD

Even better, when I was flipping around the best bits of the story, I noticed this text in one of the books Grimdark!Rose flips through in that castle:

Though we adore Him we shall never enjoy His beauteous Croak. We spill our blood on acres of black and white so that they may cross the yellow yard. At last in Skaia's reflection through broken glass He may find the pond in which He's meant to squat.

Again with the yellow yard?

...well, except I don't remember when AH said that thing about the yard? ^^; Or the book in the castle (I was careful to read 'em all but couldn't hardly remember everything ^^;) But. Yes. The yard (a yellow yardstick???)...

...I am going to have to go back and reread this thing when it's done; maybe it will make sense then!!

AH's stuff about the yard can be found here, but I don't blame you if you didn't notice, because it's in the interlude with the headache inducing SBAHJ style. XD

It implies a yardstick, but technically it could just as well be "an unwatered piece of residential property" as Karkat puts it.

To be honest, I succumbed to temptation and have read the whole thing twice. ^^; I... lose?

Or something like it, anyway - I suppose that having all of us in one place is too much to hope for, but some sort of fannish subset is definitely do-able! So much fun! And yes we definitely have to do it again! <333 Including getting my bro with your hubby (fangirls facilitating guy friendship, what a shocker! but really I've rarely seen my bro hit it off with someone that quickly...) And I am dying to see Alaska (though maybe not in winter! ^^;) and we have much more fanning to share - must work something out!
