the return of the fic
Dec. 21st, 2003 07:51 pmSo after a month of NaNo'ing and three weeks (how the hell has it been three weeks??) of...doing nothing, I finally saw to certain fannish things I've been horribly neglecting. With GetBackers, that means a new chapter of Darkness Visible; with Saiyuki, there's more Remembering to Breathe. Ah, angst. Where would fic be without you?
In other news, I loved Return of the King and need to see it again. Badly.
In other other news, I am surely the stupidest individual on the planet. Three years I've been trying to learn Japanese, and I'd probably have better spent my time beating my head against a singularly solid chunk of marble.
...trying to translate Koko wa Greenwood, which is a cute little schoolboy shoujo, and okay, yeah, I've still got to look up half the vocab, and I average about a half hour a page, that I can deal with. But every time I think I'm doing okay, I run headlong into a sentence I cannot make heads or tails of. To say nothing of the nagging uncertainty that I've actually understood anything correctly. Damn but I wish I had a teacher. Never had any faculty with other languages, I really should stick to English...
--but I wanna know what they're saying, gosh darn it!!
