Yes.
That.
Was.
Awesome.
To be slightly more coherent:
...No, wait, I lie. This show is made of squee and any objectivity I may have had has long since fled. I can only gibber in delight.
So, gibbering!
HOMG THE MASTER. Now THAT is a Supervillain. He's like the Doctor. Gone evil. And on speed. The thumbs' up! The opening and closing and opening the door! The dynamite behind the TV! The lip-zipping! The everything he does ever!
"I like it when you say my name."
"A psychiatrist's field day."
Was the Doctor looking in-cred-i-bly hot on the phone in the rain or was it just me?
Gallifrey!
"I did it for you. In your honor." Oh god. Can Jack be more in love, when he looks at the Doctor there?
"You too, huh?"
Rogue Traders' "Voodoo Child"!!! *starts boogieing along with the Master's companion*
THE MASTER KNOWS THE RIGHT MEANING OF DECIMATE WAHAHAHAHAH VOCABULARY GEEK-GASM FOR THE WIN.
Naught but two things mar it. One, thecrippling terror question of whether we're keeping Ten next season.
Regarding that, it does seem that in previous years, it's been confirmed by this point that people were leaving, and there's been none of that now, just no definite confirmations of yes. Also, SPOILERISH:
gnine found a Youtube vid someone took of David Tennant, John Barrowman, and Freema Agyeman filming a scene that has definitely not been in the ep yet (the three of them were talking nearby the fountain-thing over Torchwood, and then Jack walks off, looked like it might be a goodbye.) So there's a good chance they're still around in the end. Oh please please please *crosses fingers toes and other available appendages*
And secondly.
CANNOT WAIT NEXT WEEK'S EP FINALE NEED NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW YES THANK YOU NOOOOW.

Date: 2007-06-25 06:42 pm (UTC)I suppose since Jack has his own show (which I need to watch, too), he won't be staying around on Doctor Who, but I wish he was. It was nice having him hanging out again ("You, too, huh?"=awwww!! ;_;), and I kinda hoped, since his name appeared at the beginning after Freema's... but, yeah, that'd be too good...
Well... next week! O_o Bah, it was nice when we hadn't caught up yet and could just go NEXT *double-click*. Oh, well...

Date: 2007-06-26 04:19 am (UTC)and yes, we were spoiled, having so many eps to watch at once! the waiting now is quite tedious...and then it will be half a year before anything new! (btw J wanted to know, did you see the 2005 'children in need' special? if not be sure to check it out, it's just a couple minutes long but terrifically adorable, the moments in the TARDIS between the s1 finale and the 1st Xmas special...)

Date: 2007-06-26 06:58 am (UTC)I didn't think this episode could top Utopia and it kind of didn't because it was awesome in a way that was completely different than Utopia. That episode was all angst and sentiment and heart-wrenching performances (Derek Jacobi!), but Sound of Drums was full of evil glee and humor, which was awesome.

Date: 2007-06-26 09:39 pm (UTC)...oh, waiting for this was SO WORTH IT. My god. My - holy creator of amazing television, whoever that is. RTD?
ANyway. Um. I watched it - oh, some three hours ago? Four? With
HIGH! HIGH! HIGH! High in the sky, raining death and destruction, oh, my. Oh, Doctor. Your boyfriend is so psychotic. (Sorry, it's just - YEAH. Hello. The two of them have the most amazing messed-up chemistry EVER. And also, there's no subtext in this show, just different kinds of text.)
WANT TO KEEP TEN. Very much. (Skipped over the "spoilery" paragraph - thanks for marking it as such. ♥) So kind of... in pain. And lots of anticipation.
And what wasn't wonderful about this episode? It's all so, so amazing, I'm - oh, forget it. I can't do coherent right now. The Doctor was amazing and angsty, Jack was amazing and in love, Martha was amazing and brave, and the Master? Is made of awesome. I want to keep him! I don't want him to die! I want him to get away so he can do the classic arch-nemesis thing of showing up when you least expect him to!
Whee. Lots of posts to catch up on - haven't checked LJ since Saturday morning, my time - and then I need to squee in my own journal. Of course.
Just wanted to let you know that the squee is shared across an ocean, and it's so good to be watching this with you, even if you are a bit to far away for cuddles. *hugs*

Date: 2007-06-27 04:59 am (UTC)Absolutely no one in the UK seems to even be considering the notion that DT is departing, so J and I have mostly convinced ourselves he staying. Mostly. That was we can all just worry about how long he'll stay aged because nooo covering him in that makeup, not fair! It's the only thing the Master did that I disapprove! (well, and the murder, and the decimation, and the "RUN!" and...)
And also, there's no subtext in this show, just different kinds of text.
WAHAH! It's funny 'cuz it's true! "I like it when you say my name." (
They can't kill the Master! No, seriously, I don't think they can. He's supposed to have died half a dozen times now, from what I've picked up. Besides, he has to come back next finale for a showdown with the Dalek! (what? you know it's gonna happen! Master vs Dalek would be even better than Cyberman vs Dalek, which was already awesome x 1,000. "You are better at dying!")
(did you watch the Confidential yet? John Simms is adorable and shy-ish and insisting the madness was all in the script and he can't take credit at all ^_^)

Date: 2007-06-27 10:16 am (UTC)Heeeeee~! Yes, we had a little breakdown over here too. And then
HEE. If you have been theorizing that kind of thing...! Yeah, way beyond text. Oh, Doctor. Poor, poor Doctor. (And Jack! And Martha! Aww.)
Yes, now that I've caught up I watch the Confidentials right away! And aww, John Simm really is adorable, and his son is a huge fan, and of course he had to take the role. And the rest of them! Everyone's having such a BLAST with how crazy and evil and genius the master is! The writer, the actors - the producers! Everyone! They're practically bouncing with glee at their totally Mastery Master, and with everyone saying how he always comes back and how that's the great thing about him, they CAN'T kill him off on us! I don't even want him to regenerate, because - John Simm! Is being so good! Wow.
And then we could have more Time War, with Master and Daleks and Doctor and... oh, so good, yes. Please? Pretty please? (I love RTD's little hints that he's still got a couple of aces up his sleeve, even after this...)
*snuggles*

Date: 2007-06-27 11:56 am (UTC)All signs point to David Tennant on for another season. This includes a kid's DW magazine assuring kids that the Doctor's not going to regenerate for a good long time, and someone who saw DT at a con a couple weeks ago reporting that he's growing out his sideburns. Also Stephen Moffat made a comment that he's looking forward to writing a 2-parter for DT's Doctor, and there's a rumor that DT's mother accidentally confirmed he was contracted for 4th season...so, yeah. Not very worried, but... ^^
(though I'm wondering if they're keeping it secret because he might regen in the finale? I'm really thinking they're gonna turn back time and undo some of the Master's damage. the Decimation seems awful extreme for DW...)
More Time War, yes pleeeeease!

Date: 2007-06-27 12:49 pm (UTC)I'm going to take all of your signs, and cling to them. Cling! I'm not losing David Tennant - it would make me cry. Really. It would. I... don't always get over actor changes as quickly as I should. (Though I trust DW will do a better job with the change than, say, B5, because of the experience and advance notice and everything.) It's quite a relief, though, because if I there were signs pointing to the other direction - ouch. No. Not thinking about that now!
Regen in the finale! Oooh. Interesting idea, and - yeah, I agree. A tenth of the population?! And it's quite obviously something that shouldn't be happening, since it hadn't happened in the future, and since the Master is using a TARDIS as a paradox machine - I have no idea what a "paradox machine" is, but it does sound like whatever it causes shouldn't be. So~. That's an interesting theory! I mean, the turning back time I think is quite probable, but with extra regenerating? Oooh~!
Wonder what else is going to be affected by the paradox...?
The glimpses of Gallifrey were just - beautiful, and kind of scary, and oh, Doctor. Of course he ran. And he admits it so readily! Have I mentioned that I love him? Very much? ♥
