Reaction to Doctor Who 3x12 "The Sound of Drums":

WAHAGKQWRAOV %K#QV64rcxjoa v t2g gg%#aqvcrSU8O.

Yes.

That.

Was.

Awesome.

To be slightly more coherent:

...No, wait, I lie. This show is made of squee and any objectivity I may have had has long since fled. I can only gibber in delight.

So, gibbering!

HOMG THE MASTER. Now THAT is a Supervillain. He's like the Doctor. Gone evil. And on speed. The thumbs' up! The opening and closing and opening the door! The dynamite behind the TV! The lip-zipping! The everything he does ever!

"I like it when you say my name."

"A psychiatrist's field day."

Was the Doctor looking in-cred-i-bly hot on the phone in the rain or was it just me?

Gallifrey!

"I did it for you. In your honor." Oh god. Can Jack be more in love, when he looks at the Doctor there?

"You too, huh?"

Rogue Traders' "Voodoo Child"!!! *starts boogieing along with the Master's companion*

THE MASTER KNOWS THE RIGHT MEANING OF DECIMATE WAHAHAHAHAH VOCABULARY GEEK-GASM FOR THE WIN.

Naught but two things mar it. One, the crippling terror question of whether we're keeping Ten next season.

Regarding that, it does seem that in previous years, it's been confirmed by this point that people were leaving, and there's been none of that now, just no definite confirmations of yes. Also, SPOILERISH:

[livejournal.com profile] gnine found a Youtube vid someone took of David Tennant, John Barrowman, and Freema Agyeman filming a scene that has definitely not been in the ep yet (the three of them were talking nearby the fountain-thing over Torchwood, and then Jack walks off, looked like it might be a goodbye.) So there's a good chance they're still around in the end. Oh please please please *crosses fingers toes and other available appendages*

And secondly.

CANNOT WAIT NEXT WEEK'S EP FINALE NEED NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW YES THANK YOU NOOOOW.

Wasn't that episode just the bomb? I LOVED the Doctor and Master interaction because, though the slash level is the most obvious level to read it, it can also be played with so many other ways! I must re-watch that phone scene it was just so fantastically acted. And the best part was that, despite all the 'evilness' of the Master I just couldn't help but feel the tiniest bit sorry for him. Because he's just so mad and broken and he could be so wonderful and the Doctor only wants to help him and... and... and... GAH.

May have to post again in a few mo with something more coherant.

We. Er. Have watched the phone conversation about 5 times now. It was quite incredible, the tension between them, the way the Doctor is begging, the way the Master is so very mad...I do feel for him. All the more because Prof. Yana was such a wonderful individual, and while he wasn't the Master really, still...that the Doctor could have made friends with him again, as they once were, and loses that again...yesss, I don't want to see the Master ended, I want the Doctor to get through to him and not be so alone!

...Even if it will never happen; still, the Doctor has hope. It's why he's the hero...!

Agreed on all points. He is a pretty sweet villain. XD And his wife cracks me up... she gets off on his evil so much she looked orgasmic when he was talking about decimating the population. The song had me laughing and WTFing at once (I like that song, too). >_< I don't want the Doctor to regenerate! ;_; Hopefully they can reverse the process, if they just nab the device...

I suppose since Jack has his own show (which I need to watch, too), he won't be staying around on Doctor Who, but I wish he was. It was nice having him hanging out again ("You, too, huh?"=awwww!! ;_;), and I kinda hoped, since his name appeared at the beginning after Freema's... but, yeah, that'd be too good...

Well... next week! O_o Bah, it was nice when we hadn't caught up yet and could just go NEXT *double-click*. Oh, well...

I love that the Master has an eeeevil Companion! He's just such a great mirror image of the Doctor.

[livejournal.com profile] gnine and I are having palpitations thinking of David Tennant leaving the show! Though pretty much no one believes it's going to happen; this show is a big enough deal in the UK that if there were a new Doctor on the roster everyone would probably know by now (they start shooting s4 next month!) So we just hope the Doctor gets de-aged because it will be sad to have him in such silly makeup for the whole ep...

and yes, we were spoiled, having so many eps to watch at once! the waiting now is quite tedious...and then it will be half a year before anything new! (btw J wanted to know, did you see the 2005 'children in need' special? if not be sure to check it out, it's just a couple minutes long but terrifically adorable, the moments in the TARDIS between the s1 finale and the 1st Xmas special...)

I'd been hearing the Voodoo Child song when I first read the title for this episode AND THEN IT ACTUALLY MADE AN APPEARANCE. I swoon! I squee!

I didn't think this episode could top Utopia and it kind of didn't because it was awesome in a way that was completely different than Utopia. That episode was all angst and sentiment and heart-wrenching performances (Derek Jacobi!), but Sound of Drums was full of evil glee and humor, which was awesome.

Yeah, ditto. Change him back quickly, please... ^^;;; Yep, I saw the Children in Need special. It would've been sad to miss that, that's kinda sneaky hiding a little piece of the plot away like that. Saw Attack of the Graske, too. :P That was interesting, but not really much fun when you couldn't actually play.

Heeee, yes, ditto about Voodoo Child, but I never thought they'd actually put it in the show! They never use pop songs (they save 'em for the Confidentials) but then they do and heee!

I'm not even trying to judge between this and Utopia. I'm just counting on the finale to top 'em both. Eeeeeee~~~!

HOMG LOVE YOUR ICON! *shows off own icon*

...oh, waiting for this was SO WORTH IT. My god. My - holy creator of amazing television, whoever that is. RTD?

ANyway. Um. I watched it - oh, some three hours ago? Four? With [livejournal.com profile] oakfairy, and we've been squeeing at each other since, and I'm STILL HIGH. (Things we kept repeating: "You too, huh?" (OF COURSE), "You're insane!", and also we said "tea" a lot.)

HIGH! HIGH! HIGH! High in the sky, raining death and destruction, oh, my. Oh, Doctor. Your boyfriend is so psychotic. (Sorry, it's just - YEAH. Hello. The two of them have the most amazing messed-up chemistry EVER. And also, there's no subtext in this show, just different kinds of text.)

WANT TO KEEP TEN. Very much. (Skipped over the "spoilery" paragraph - thanks for marking it as such. ♥) So kind of... in pain. And lots of anticipation.

And what wasn't wonderful about this episode? It's all so, so amazing, I'm - oh, forget it. I can't do coherent right now. The Doctor was amazing and angsty, Jack was amazing and in love, Martha was amazing and brave, and the Master? Is made of awesome. I want to keep him! I don't want him to die! I want him to get away so he can do the classic arch-nemesis thing of showing up when you least expect him to!

Whee. Lots of posts to catch up on - haven't checked LJ since Saturday morning, my time - and then I need to squee in my own journal. Of course.

Just wanted to let you know that the squee is shared across an ocean, and it's so good to be watching this with you, even if you are a bit to far away for cuddles. *hugs*

Yay hugs! *embraces your icon & pinches its cheeks*

Absolutely no one in the UK seems to even be considering the notion that DT is departing, so J and I have mostly convinced ourselves he staying. Mostly. That was we can all just worry about how long he'll stay aged because nooo covering him in that makeup, not fair! It's the only thing the Master did that I disapprove! (well, and the murder, and the decimation, and the "RUN!" and...)

And also, there's no subtext in this show, just different kinds of text.

WAHAH! It's funny 'cuz it's true! "I like it when you say my name." ([livejournal.com profile] gnine and I have been theorizing that maybe the Doctor's not asexual but simply not attracted to humans like that, but the Master...)

They can't kill the Master! No, seriously, I don't think they can. He's supposed to have died half a dozen times now, from what I've picked up. Besides, he has to come back next finale for a showdown with the Dalek! (what? you know it's gonna happen! Master vs Dalek would be even better than Cyberman vs Dalek, which was already awesome x 1,000. "You are better at dying!")

(did you watch the Confidential yet? John Simms is adorable and shy-ish and insisting the madness was all in the script and he can't take credit at all ^_^)

They did use "Toxic", of all things, to very good effect in the second episode ever! When they do use pop, they do it really well. XD

It's 15 hugs, and I still have a bunch I didn't get to use!! This show wins at hugs, hands down. And now it's iconed. ♥

Heeeeee~! Yes, we had a little breakdown over here too. And then [livejournal.com profile] vargen came home, and dotted at us, saying pretty much "But if the Doctor dies, all that happens is that we get a new actor", and we almost had to beat him for that. (We were busy clinging, instead. And whimpering.) (And, yes, of course he knows we're both crazy about Tennant. That's why he said it!) And heee~ to the make-up! We were trying to think of bad things with the episode, and that's the only thing we disapprove of! I don't think they're going to be evil enough to David to force him to spend the entire episode in make-up (if nothing else, it's so time-consuming to apply, I don't see how they'd have the time to have him aged for very long)... or to us, because - yes, kind of shallow here, and really like our pretty! ^^;;;

HEE. If you have been theorizing that kind of thing...! Yeah, way beyond text. Oh, Doctor. Poor, poor Doctor. (And Jack! And Martha! Aww.)

Yes, now that I've caught up I watch the Confidentials right away! And aww, John Simm really is adorable, and his son is a huge fan, and of course he had to take the role. And the rest of them! Everyone's having such a BLAST with how crazy and evil and genius the master is! The writer, the actors - the producers! Everyone! They're practically bouncing with glee at their totally Mastery Master, and with everyone saying how he always comes back and how that's the great thing about him, they CAN'T kill him off on us! I don't even want him to regenerate, because - John Simm! Is being so good! Wow.

And then we could have more Time War, with Master and Daleks and Doctor and... oh, so good, yes. Please? Pretty please? (I love RTD's little hints that he's still got a couple of aces up his sleeve, even after this...)

*snuggles*

ICON WAHAHAHAHA ^__^

All signs point to David Tennant on for another season. This includes a kid's DW magazine assuring kids that the Doctor's not going to regenerate for a good long time, and someone who saw DT at a con a couple weeks ago reporting that he's growing out his sideburns. Also Stephen Moffat made a comment that he's looking forward to writing a 2-parter for DT's Doctor, and there's a rumor that DT's mother accidentally confirmed he was contracted for 4th season...so, yeah. Not very worried, but... ^^

(though I'm wondering if they're keeping it secret because he might regen in the finale? I'm really thinking they're gonna turn back time and undo some of the Master's damage. the Decimation seems awful extreme for DW...)

More Time War, yes pleeeeease!

IT'S FUNNY CUZ IT'S TRUE! XD I'm so glad you approve! ♥ (Wibbled a bit about the actual text and placement and such - I need an "evil" font! - but... yeaaaaah. I'm so amused!)

I'm going to take all of your signs, and cling to them. Cling! I'm not losing David Tennant - it would make me cry. Really. It would. I... don't always get over actor changes as quickly as I should. (Though I trust DW will do a better job with the change than, say, B5, because of the experience and advance notice and everything.) It's quite a relief, though, because if I there were signs pointing to the other direction - ouch. No. Not thinking about that now!

Regen in the finale! Oooh. Interesting idea, and - yeah, I agree. A tenth of the population?! And it's quite obviously something that shouldn't be happening, since it hadn't happened in the future, and since the Master is using a TARDIS as a paradox machine - I have no idea what a "paradox machine" is, but it does sound like whatever it causes shouldn't be. So~. That's an interesting theory! I mean, the turning back time I think is quite probable, but with extra regenerating? Oooh~!

Wonder what else is going to be affected by the paradox...?

The glimpses of Gallifrey were just - beautiful, and kind of scary, and oh, Doctor. Of course he ran. And he admits it so readily! Have I mentioned that I love him? Very much? ♥

And "Tainted Love" - ah, I forgot about that bit, and yep, it's very like Voodoo Child was used, the chars actually playing the songs. Heee! (I'm still a bit brain-broken because the only reason I knew Voodoo Child was because of a SV vid, my fandoms persist in crossing over in really silly ways...)
