xparrot: Chopper reading (muncle old skool)
[personal profile] xparrot
It's almost 9 AM. No, I didn't get up early, I just haven't gone to bed yet. But I'm writing! I am putting words together in (hopefully) new ways and (hopefully) making them say things and now I have 7,000 of them arranged in a more-or-less readable fashion and oh I have missed this! I am not myself when I'm not writing, but now I am, and so I am, and it is good.

--Unfortunately I am not writing what anyone wants me to be writing, but it is still infinitely preferable to not writing at all. (Also I need to arrange maybe another thousand words to reach a conclusion, but that will have to wait until tomorrow as right now I am hard-pressed to remember what order any of them are supposed to go in.)(You may have three guesses as to what I am writing, and the first two don't count. And yes the icon is a hint. By the way, this is supposed to be a GIP, because look at this icon. The screencap was not manipped or edited. See? See?!)

Top Secret Note for those who recommended Sapphire & Steel: why did none of you warn me that David McCallum in his later forties was if anything hotter than David McCallum in his early thirties? He's not Illya, but still. A girl needs to know to brace herself. I'm dreading the new NCIS tomorrow, because right now his voice is doing things to me, and his voice hasn't changed...

Yaysleep!

We recently saw Ilya as an even younger dude in The Great Escape, one of many Younger Than We Remembered Them Guys in a pretty cool early 60s ensemble piece.

You've seen? You approve?

Great Escape

That is the movie he was working on when Jill Ireland met Charles Bronson who she married as soon as she divorced David.

Actually I've never seen it - my old films knowledge is more '30s-'50s, I'm sparser on the '60s-'70s, and when I think of The Great Escape it's an Eddie Izzard routine - but yes, I recently became aware that I now have very compelling reasons to watch it! XP

...Don't count your fics before they're hatched...um...posted. Icons aside, I didn't actually manage slash. Or h/c. Yeah, I don't know either ^^;;;

I'm more surprised by the lack of h/c than slash! XD Slashy or not (though any time you do feel like that would be A-OKAY), this is a fandom for which I've really wanted to see more... hm, how to say this. Fics of a more modern sensibility? If that makes sense. This is especially true in regards to slash, but not exclusively -- just the style of prose and characterization fifteen years ago (or whenever) vs. today. And I ♥ your writing, so. :)

Well, it's an episode tag (yes, a very long episode tag) so the h/c happens off-camera. I suppose it's sort of comfort? It's aaaaaangst, but there'll be a happi endo.

And yes, I know what you mean about modern sensibilities - takes a bit of readjustment for me; my own tastes have changed with the times, it seems, considering I got into fic fandom in '96. I've found some good fic, poking about, but not quite what I was looking for, so...writing! (I'm just tickled someone's going to read it! <3)

David McCallum

Scary = sexy, in my book! XP I haven't even finished the first series of S&S, but...mmm! (He's like a darkside version of the Doctor, I keep thinking he's secretly Gallifreyan...)

Fic should be posted tonight or tomorrow, with luck!

Oh, I liked him as the Doctor.

Great! I don't have to wait for you to finish writing it. I'm so glad. Thank you.

Unfortunately I am not writing what anyone wants me to be writing

At this moment I'm comatose from checking forty pages of legal drivel in letter font 4, so you could be writing Little House on the Prairie slash and I'd read it. ;P

See? See?!

They're so canon!! And cheap! Only $68,98 for four seasons! *is buying DVD's next week* :D

...Wouldn't LHotP slash be sibcest femme-slash? (...um. I never actually watched the show, just read the books a billion times in my youth...)

Wait, where'd you find the DVDs for that cheap? I haven't seen them for under $100!

Oh, but surely someone out there wrote Charles/Nels slash! Charels. Nelles. Hm, okay, maybe not. Never mind. I'm weirding myself out here.

Wait, where'd you find the DVDs for that cheap?

Right here!

(but I was actually hoping to find them in a discount bin at Targets or something. Good deals make me happy.)

Those DVDs you won't find at Target; they're bootlegs, from the look of them. The official DVDs are still rather more pricey (am sorely tempted anyway...they have specials, and besides, shiny discs! I do love shiny discs...)

(fic this evening!)

Yeah, the inlays looked pretty crummy for $68,99. I'm now sorely tempted to buy this baby!

(fic this evening!)

EEEE!! But it's 4.15 am in my part of the world. I have to go to bed. :(

Hello xparrot
Remember if you are watching Sapphire and Steel from..um..*cough* youtubish and technically illegal sources, dalek64 doesnt have Assignment 6 you have to come visit us for that one.

Oh and when you've finished with S and S come play with the other bluemeany sister at:
http://www.youtube.com/user/Shovewood

She has episodes of Colditz and has started on Kidnapped (Fo Bhruid)

She's into 'period dress' McCallum

Referring to your complaint above I shall now (technology permiting) attempt to prepare you in some small way for the Raf uniform and swishy cape squeeness. Brace yourself...you can't say you weren't warned....

I'm actually getting S&S from a different illegal source *cough* so I'm all set on that, but thanks!

As for the rest - ohohoh! I'll definitely have to check those out! One thing about DmC fanning, there is an extensive oeuvre to check out... ^__^

Ok....seriously prepare! The next pics are from 'Kidnapped' (1979) with McCallum in full rebel hero mode with swishy cape, shiny boots and big feathery hat.

He also changes into a very fetching blue silk button ensemble not unlike the one Mr Tennant wears as Casanova.

Ooooh, I love the hat!

And the froofy lacy thing, too...yes, that is quite like Tennant's Casanova... (Mmmm, two of my favorite Davids, how can I choose??)(at least McCallum comes by his blue eyes honestly; Tennant's contacts in Casanova freaked me out ^^;)
