while I'm at it
Oct. 13th, 2009 12:17 amAll slashers on my flist, y'all are watching NCIS: LA, right? Seriously. You ought to be getting on that. I expect output, in a reasonable time *taps foot* (Sam/G is obvious*, but I will accept Sam/Nate or Sam/G/Nate in a pinch.)
* By obvious, I mean "I complete you," "You know your ears wiggle when you're trying to avoid a conversation - it's kind of adorable." and the opening sequence, which easily can be mistaken for either a buddy-cop flick or a gay beach movie. You see those looks? That's the way they look at each other all the time. Only stopping when one of them has to leave.
Also see Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J proving that their flirting is apparently not acting. The bicep-grabbing! (not that you can blame him. My god, what a body.)(and his smile. Man, LL Cool J must save a lot on electricity: he doesn't need a lamp to light up a room.)
I also have started watching Criminal Minds at
gnine's insistence. I have a problem in that I find smart sexy, and find psychological Sherlock Holmesian reading of people super-smart, so yes, they are all SO SMART *_* (Also Mandy Patinkin is awesome, wish they'd make an excuse for him to sing. Plus, teaminess! so weak to teaminess.)
ETA: Also I ♥ Garcia. She's got such a wicked tongue. Also wicked glasses!

Date: 2009-10-13 11:43 am (UTC)For me, it's the brains and heart of the show that really makes it gripping - they're people, not superheroes. They screw up as much as they get it right, but they don't stop trying. The characters are much better rounded than in your average 'procedural' and while the overall show can become harrowing (mainlining it definitely makes it feel that way), week by week, it's powerful stuff.

Date: 2009-10-13 06:59 pm (UTC)The only true "procedurals" I watch regularly are Numb3rs (which has a strong char focus) and NCIS (which is more of a comedy pretending to be a procedural anyway!) so CM feels more like a "real" procedural to me, but the characters are strong - makes sense; given how much thought the writers have to put into the motivations of the criminals, it's only reasonable that the protagonists get the same attention.

Date: 2009-10-13 12:34 pm (UTC)I'm also getting vibes from Erik(c?), but I think I may like him and Kensi better (?) The teaminess is phenomenal, and the dialogue is everything I've come to love from NCIS: Proper, so high hopes!
Also, Criminal Minds remains one of my favorite fandoms. Especially Reid. I loved Garcia, but Abby has sort of "replaced" her as my favorite on-air computer-geek, weirdo. And the teaminess is very similar to NCIS, so I hope you like it!

Date: 2009-10-13 07:01 pm (UTC)Garcia and Abby so are chat buddies, always with an IM window open to one another, and go out for lunch once a week ^^

Date: 2009-10-13 01:09 pm (UTC)Criminal Minds is also big on the team love and the smart people. While I love the first season, it gets even better as time goes on. To my great surprise, I fell for Hotch hard, because I rarely fall for the square, or someone that close to being a leading man. Garcia rocks my socks off. *nods*

Date: 2009-10-13 07:03 pm (UTC)Hotch has hidden depths, I'm realizing already, but then all the chars hit buttons...my favorite hasn't shaken out yet, and I might just not get one in favor of TEAM!

Date: 2009-10-13 07:22 pm (UTC)I ♥ Criminal Minds -- some of the episodes make me shudder, they're so horrible (in a serial killer kind of way, not in a writing/acting kind of way) but I keep watching because the team is so very much a family. They all care for each other THIS(_______________________________________________________)Much.!

Date: 2009-10-13 10:39 pm (UTC)And yes, the one thing that gets me about watching Criminal Minds is that I feel like I'm watching too much murder these days...but the team stuff is wonderful, all the same...

Date: 2009-10-15 08:50 pm (UTC)Garcia rocks. I love how they use her and her relationships with the other characters - flirty with Morgan, big sisterly with Reid, girl friends with JJ, and little more serious with Hotch (and in later episodes we see just how important Hotch's opinion of Garcia is).
