Regarding the Shinsengumi Saw parody episodes:

OMFG. I spent both episodes knowing something was going on, knowing that I couldn't take it seriously, knowing that the metaphorical rug of nakamaship-slash-slash was going to be pulled out from under my feet...but I could not figure out how. Not until the very end, not until the exact moment the penny dropped for (poor, poor, poor) Hijikata.

TWO EPISODES. TWO WHOLE ENTIRE EPISODES OF OKITA TORTURING BOTH HIJIKATA AND WE THE AUDIENCE. TOTALLY, TOTALLY PLAYED.

I think I hate Sorachi. If by "hate" I mean KIND OF ADORE.

I swear, after the ep ended, I sat and screamed hysterically for about two minutes straight. I'm not even exaggerating ^^; (and then I went back and rewatched the last 10 minutes and screamed again!)

I have a couple friends who ship HijiOki and I'm wondering if these eps count for or against...I mean, Okita's a monster, but (poor poor) Hijikata's feelings were real, and you could argue that Okita did it all in part to have an excuse for Hijikata to hold him... XDXDXDXD

I might totally be a HijiOki shipper (...but only because of every other Shinsengumi show EVAR!), and I totally count them as a win. Not a good win, or a happy win, but a win nonetheless. Poor Hijikata >.

*laughs* I have a feeling Gintama might have ruined me for all other Shinsengumi/Meiji-era series (I know it's going to make me crack up at Kenshin, and that's one of my favorite shounen ever! At least there isn't a Saitou in the Gintama Shinsengumi, that'd kill me) but hee, yeah, even in Gintama-land HijiOki is a lot of fun. If WRONG. SO SO WRONG! XDXDXD

Saitou is my favorite char in Kenshin (...yeah, I know how to pick 'em ^^;) so yeah, it would break my brain muchly to see any Gintama incarnation. And PMK I've been meaning to watch, especially after this...

Ahhh! I've never seen PoT - is there any particular PoT-y in-joke about Yamazaki, other than the badminton? I know there was the one ep he was playing on a badminton team and I recognized the uniforms and chars as from PoT, but is there anything else I'm missing?

Well, there's the badminton, and the uniform that he shows up in is that of the main team (Seigaku). He also is referencing the main character in that ep, with the baseball cap and the "mada mada da ne." If I remember right, he also does some of the more ridiculous tennis moves at some point...
