Gintama fic: Pandemonium 7/?

I blame any OOC here on Zura: while the other chars are reluctant to get serious, Katsura gleefully seizes the opportunity - give him a dramatic inch and he'll take an epic mile. And I let him get away with it because I'm rather more fond of him than I really ought to be. (Honestly, Zura might be my favorite Ishida Akira character...!)

You know, it's funny, because I had to read the first sentence several times before I realized that you weren't suddenly having Kagura with Elisabeth somewhere. I have hardly ever seen the names written in alphabet before, so I had barely realized that "Kagura" and "Katsura" look alike (they look very different in Kanji!). I feel very weird. o_O

In any case, aww, Katsura! It's not your fault that he takes himself very seriously, but I think you managed to catch his deadbeat weirdness as well (stealing cake! The electric socket incident!). I could practically hear him say "ダチじゃない。兄弟だ。" (or perhaps "仲間だ。") there at the end. Aww.

And the end of his part took me by more surprise than it should have. Katsura is involved with whatever is happening to Gintoki? Oh dear.

The Shinpachi and Kagura section was lots of worrying goodness! Even Otae is worried... And of course it wouldn't be Yorozuya Gin-chan without any one of them!

Hee, I had the same problem with typing Katsura & Kagura, I typed the wrong one more than once. Have also had that problem when talking about the series, which is why I tend to just call him Zura instead. (Then again, while talking half the time I say "Gintoki" when I mean to say "Gintama" or vice versa; there's too much name confusion! XD)

"兄弟だ" was what I was thinking ^_^

And yes, they are all irreplaceable members of Yorozuya Gin-chan! Love the Yorozuya lots & lots <3

Such a touching scene with Katsura (although I must admit my inner GinZura fangirl howled at the "brother" rather than "nakama" line, and I don't even ship them ^^;.) Then you went and made Katsura think sinister thoughts at the end of it! :_; I am very intrigued over what his connection to the whole mess will be now...

"I'm sorry, Shinpachi," Kagura said. "I'll go see the Shinsengumi—you just get better, okay? Because I really can't be Yorozuya Gin-chan by myself. Even if I changed the name."

We only get the rare Shinpachi-Kagura interaction without any Gintoki; but they really do pack a definite punch, and somehow in a completely platonic way, which is probably why we don't really get any fanworks about just them. GEN FTW~

And heee...I confess, though I don't actually ship almost anything in Gintama, GinZura is one of the few Gintoki-pairings I can almost~ see. Except that it feels a bit incestuous, because they really are such brothers, always annoying one another but always there when they need to be...

Shinpachi & Kagura also have an almost sibling-like bond, so close but totally platonic as you say, which to no one's surprise I also love - oh, the Yoshiwara ep where they fight the Yato clansman, and Kagura loses it to protect him and Shinpachi calls her back to herself - so much <3333333!!

^^; Honestly, I think I fall into the 'almost' camp for GinZura too (although I will happily read it and look at all the pretty fanart ^^;). I think the main thing my inner fangirl was howling over was that "nakama" doesn't preclude the romantic slant should you choose to see it that way, whereas "brothers" does, and the fic feels close enough to canon that it's almost like that interpretation is being shut down.

But really, I have trouble believing any 'ship when it comes to Gintoki - he's too lazy!

*laughs* I didn't actually think of the "brothers" as precluding the slash, but I, uh, may kinda-sorta 'ship some incest pairs, so, yeah ^^;;;;;

This, exactly! I'll look at pretty Gintoki/whoever doujinshi (I'm very easy when it comes to dj) but yeah, I can't actually see him in any serious relationship, that's just way too much work XD

Heh! Oh man, fandom goggles. I may sort of ship one or two incest pairs too, damn you Naruto But IDK, it's one thing with incest ships vs when it's two people who aren't related by blood insisting that they see each other as siblings, yanno? You get that kind of Star Wars Luke-and-Leia feeling, where of course they're not romantically involved - they're siblings! (Of course, there's probably some section of the Star Wars fandom that ships Luke and Leia somewhere, and my example is bad because L&L are blood-related, but what I mean is that 'siblings=>no romantic love' is the commonly accepted reading. It's too difficult not to be easy when it comes to dj and pretty art ^^;.
