on Fringe yet again

I either picked an absolutely terrible or a totally awesome time to catch up with this show...whichever it is, watching it in real time is stressful, yo!
4x19 was great fun - post-colonization future shenanigans for the win!
Except that it's also crazy stressful when we don't know if we're going to get more - and Joel Wyman (exec producer guy) on his Twitter said that they won't be going back to the future THIS season, being as they are MEAN EVIL PEOPLES who know how to rile fans up...(he could of course be lying through his teeth, but...)
Etta was well-cast, very convincing as a Bishop-Dunham in both appearance and mannerisms. So good in fact that I am trying to figure out if they were actually thinking the audience wouldn't guess it in the first 2 minutes, or if they were just playing a coy little game with not saying her last name and all. (It helped a bit that having just watched s3 I easily remembered that Altlivia's son was Henry.)(--and it just occurred to me that Peter knows this! Because September told him so! So did he actually name her Henrietta in honor of the son he accidentally disappeared when he erased himself from existence? That would be kind of awesome if so, I love time loops...)
So is that why September called Henry "a child that was not meant to be"? Because he was not only born to the wrong Olivia, but also the wrong sex? Checking the ep with Peter chatting with September in the Observer-cave, September doesn't ever say that he & Olivia were supposed to have a son - "she is the one, the Olivia Dunham from whom your shared future was meant to spring. This must be, and everything will be as it was intended" - the 'shared future' in context imply spawning, but not what kid they're actually supposed to produce.
Anyway, so want to see more with Etta & Peter and their situation which so wonderfully parallels Peter & Walter, with Etta having just saved a father whom she hasn't seen in two decades, and who she'll need to take care of since he's not really prepared for their current world...
Meanwhile, Walter, aaaah! So we were wrong, he was missing brain-bits...but not anymore! And past!Walter...maybe isn't as evil as original-flavor Walternate...or maybe he's worse? Need to see!
And what was Bell doing in the amber?!?! We totally guessed the fake-out of it being Astrid and not Olivia - but did not see Belly coming!!
And Olivia...so is she dead, as September said would happen? And Etta is wearing the bullet that killed her around her neck (which yeah, morbid, but she is a Dunham...) Olivia nooooo you can't be dead! ;_________; (all right, you can be dead in this future, it makes for an interesting story - but not in the other ones!)
And what happened with redverse??? Or did they merge them...is that when the Observers arrived? Is that possibly what they were waiting for, for a whole universe to invade?
...and meanwhile I am still trying to figure out if blueverse is really gone. In 4x14, Peter's conversation with September ends with Sept going, "You must find a way t--" and then they get interrupted. Find a way to what? To make babies with Olivia? Or something else...?
OTOH, given how the future is looking now...amberverse is still better than the alternatives?
Oh well, whatever they do - as long as they can keep doing it! Need season 5! Oh please oh please (only with the show's end possibly looming do I start stressing about how Lost ended - not that I watched it myself, but I watched friends and family rant and rave, which was funny to see but not so funny to live! Please, show, stay strong, stay good, bring it home without sucking!

Date: 2012-04-23 05:16 am (UTC)If we see a different universe i would think it would be one in which September never was discovered by Walternate in his lab in 1985/6.
Peter was never stolen by Walter and was raised by his parents. It poses some interesting questions about nature vs nurture. Just how recognizable would Peter be? I had a dream where Peter was a Major and second in charge of Fringe Divison.

Date: 2012-04-22 12:03 am (UTC)Given how little we know about the mystery futureverse and how many ways things could've gone down, I will believe Olivia is dead when we see the body, and possibly not even then. *g*
