The first two kid!Loki volumes are JiM: Fear Itself and JiM: Fear Itself Fallout (and the next one after that, JiM: Terrorism Myth, isn't out yet) so you chose wisely!
This whole post is dedicated to what happened in the years before JiM that lead to the (re)birth of kid!Loki, so yes, you can read it safely (I do mention a few ongoing plot threads that are taken up in JiM, but not how they're resolved there.) All these scans are from Thor and related issues; I didn't reach JiM itself (which begins with kid!Loki already around and in Asgard.)
(tbh I don't actually know how much the beginning of JiM will make, without the background? I know it starts with a recap, it might be fine...really I have a hard time rating comics at all; not following everything that's going on seems to be a hazard of the media, even if it drives me nuts! ^^;)
