So Benedict Cumberbatch has put in the final performance of his greatest role. Which is to say, Cabin Pressure's finale has aired.

That, THAT, is how you do a finale. Incredibly satisfying, between the callbacks (Captain de Crieff!) and the character dynamics, and what changes and what stays the same. It's so sad to have Martin leave the MJN family - but it was time for him to spread his wings, and he gets to be closer to his awesome, awesome girlfriend (I was so glad she was back for it!) And meanwhile OJS still takes the skies (Are they in Gerti still, or...?)

Everyone supporting Martin, being so genuinely happy about him getting the job even if it makes their lives harder, and Martin not wanting to leave to the point of lying about it, so sweet. The final con was so hilarious (giving everyone a chance to do imitations!) and the reveal of the wiring was ridiculous (I'm dying to know how feasible it is, I have no idea!) and clever and really just perfect - Martin's realization of Gerti's handling, and how he might be a better pilot than he's ever known, awww.

(Though the Kipling fan in me kept going, read the book, Arthur, Mowgli goes back to the jungle anyway! Hopefully Martin's run at Swiss Airs will feature fewer stampedes :P)

Also John Finnemore crediting his father as the aviation consultant at the end, AWWW! From what I know that's been the case for the show but the credit was so sweet.

So sad the show has ended, but it couldn't have had a more perfect send-off. Made me want to re-listen to the entire show, which, really, you can't ask for more than that!

Yes! I loved the conclusion even if I was sad that it was over. I might have sniffled a bit when Carolyn promoted Douglas and when Martin did his first cabin address for Swiss Air "Martin du Crieff."

It just dealt with everything so satisfyingly - if it had to end, then it couldn't have been better!
