I think this post was about a volume's worth of chapters - not sure exactly, but the chapter I linked here, 525, is the beginning of the Saraba Shinsengumi arc - the chapter ends with Kondou's arrest. The arc ends at chapter 551 (which means they were adapting at more than 2 chapters an episode? No wonder the pacing was so tight...I wonder if they left anything out? I can't think of anything off-hand, but I read it quite a while ago...) Anyway, anything before chapter 552 you should be safe with.
Gintoki crying - I don't know! I can't recall Gin-san shedding any other genuinely dramatic tears at the moment, but I might be forgetting something...
...dangit I just peeked at the most recent chapter and there's Kamui and aaaaah I don't think I can resist reading, what do I doooooo~~~!
