Quick post to say hi, anyone here from Tumblr -- I'm historically terrible about using my journal for actually posting things, but I've always been here reading and commenting.

(If you're someone I know/follow on Tumblr (or lj or somewhere else) and I haven't followed you back here, drop me a comment -- I'm not great at keeping up with my subscriptions here and probably have missed folks.)

I'm probably sticking around Tumblr for the time being, but who knows how long that will actually be. Have been through enough fannish migrations/banishments before that I'm more tired than angry or upset. Really I'm mostly personally disappointed that it's going down now, when I've just found a new fandom with a nice fun circle on the platform.

(That would be the slashtastic h/c extravaganza that is the Chinese series Guardian, and more generally Cdrama. And more specifically the actor Zhu Yilong, so that for the last couple months gnine and I have been trying to watch everything he's been in. Which is a new...low? high? for us when it comes to actor obsessions, in that the majority of his past work hasn't been subtitled, and I know, like, 50 words of Mandarin. Which is 46 words more than I knew a couple months ago. And Zhu Yilong isn't even named David! ...He is breathtakingly beautiful, however, and frankly way more talented than most of the stuff he's been in deserves. And honestly, I needed this, after the last year. I've written more in the past two months than in the year before that. Yay for obsession!)

Yeah, tired sums it up because it feels like as soon as I get settled in a new fandom space, it's time to move. I'm now trying to figure out where fandom is moving next lol and signing up for as many things as possible to keep my username.

I always liked the LJ format, I have to admit to being a little rusty at it.

Haaah, well, I honestly don't think Dreamwidth is gonna replace Tumblr, that ship's sailed...but it's a comfortable place to temporarily retreat to, lick our wounds a bit?

I know, Tumblr has taken me years to figure out, and I kind of have a handle on it now, just in time for this...

The lj format was always good to us writers, the wordier the better. But Tumblr allowed the artists and giffers to flourish in a way that they can't really here. I hope we find some format that lets us all shine, I want it all~~~~!

I think our little fandom is probably mostly sticking around? <3 And a bunch of us are on here too now - though I admit that for Guardian and related content Tumblr is a nice way of getting a quick fix! Well, fingers crossed.

Yeah, it does seem likely our Guardian circle will keep around...barring blogs/posts getting randomly adult content'ed >.> Hope it does in some form -- dw is good for talking but I needs my gifs! And photoshoots! (mmmm photoshoots~~~~)

Oh hey!

Technically I'm not a tumblr refugee, but only because I was an original Livejournal refugee and have had my account here for ages. That being said, I do use tumblr, and am disappointed about what's happened (though to be honest, I've been waiting for this moment ever since the site was sold to Yahoo, so I'm not surprised in the least).

I know you through the Lucifer fandom - I'm glad that I followed, I really love your fic and your meta! x

I actually dropped out of fandom in part because I could never figure out how to use Tumblr. I'm not old, I'm just not...savvy? It was such a drastic difference that I just...went away after LJ died. I'm just hoping that whatever comes next will be good for all!

Oh hi! Glad to see you here, we had a good time in Lucifer comments on AO3! :D (While I'm way off in cdrama land now, I am really looking forward to that coming back! Should really finish that Dan h/c fic to celebrate...)

And yeah, I think most of us who have been around for a while saw the writing on the wall when Yahoo came into the picture...(at least AO3 is ours, this is the one migration that won't be losing a big chunk of fic!)

Ahhh, I know exactly what you mean -- it took me forever to figure out how to fan on Tumblr (by which I mean actually find a community and communicate with it). I really only got the hang of it in the last couple years, and that's mostly due to luck and finding the right fandoms for it. And it still feels like you're actively fighting against the platform to actual make connections...I hope that wherever fandom ends up next is friendlier for more of us.

--Meanwhile I'm so glad to see you around again, that's one advantage of this, ironically, reconnecting with people! \o/

O'm with you, I'm more tired than upset. I never got the hang of tumblr, but I found a lot of great meta on it via google. So much good meta. I always hoped I'd be able to figure the place out, but now I'll have to turn my attention to wherever fandom heads next.

Oh gosh, I really hope you do! I saw the snippet you posted on tumblr and have been Hanging Out for it (but then I love your fics in general, so hey :D)

Yeah, it's times like these that makes me SO GLAD for the AO3. I couldn't imagine the internet without it, tbh

Yeah, the meta was great -- if you could find it! I'm hoping the next place will make it easier to find what you want, rather than...everything!
