time for an h/c comment fest!

The last couple of days have been rough on my writing (for dumb annoying reasons, why don't we come installed with a "will not be bothered by this thing" button?)

So! In the hopes of getting me to write something, and because this is what I'm feeling most wobbly about: it's time for hurt/comfort comment-fic!

Leave me a prompt/request for h/c, any hurt or any comfort, short or long as you want -- if it's character-specific, Guardian WeiLan please, that's all I'm in the mood to write; if that's not your thing then please leave a more general prompt! I don't promise to write anything (nor do I promise to write an actual commentfic and not some 10K-word monster, knowing me) but I would love any inspiration.

And if one of the prompts happens to tickle your fancy, please post your own comment fic (art, etc!) here (any fandoms, any characters) -- the more h/c the merrier!

OH WOW this fic just came to my house and gave me a hug???

I LOVE IT SO MUUUUCH. I am a little emotional? OH. This Shen Wei POV - how he's not sure of anything, including where they are or why Zhao Yunlan is talking or how many arms he has, but oh. He knows he wants to be close to Zhao Yunlan, and he knows that he wants to know where Zhao Yunlan is, and he knows he wants to go make tea for him (even though he needs to get the whole...body not moving...situation sorted first) and he doesn't know who Zhao Yunlan could possibly have been buying such refined tea for.

Ajkldsgljsdkjfh SHEN WEI.

Also Zhao Yunlan!! With his calm patience even when he must be completely terrified, and taking care of Shen Wei the only way he can, and having gone to the special tea store to get Shen Wei a gift and then he didn't have time to unpack it hjfgslfhkdj NOOOO it's too soft?!?

Aw thank you so much, I'm so glad to hear that! I haven't written Shen Wei POV before, or any flashfic in ages either, and it's so reassuring and cheering to hear that this worked for you. <3

Poor Shen Wei is SO OUT OF IT and it's fun but also a little tricky. So here's a question, if I clean this up for AO3: should I include more details? He's mostly frozen and exhausted, because he changed the storm's course and built them an ice shelter with powers and then collapsed, but he isn't awake enough to know that? Or is that just all scaffolding that gets in the way of the good stuff, ie soft talk and closeness?

I am the worst person to ask for that, because I am still super impressed that you managed such a great in medias res piece, and think this worked great! Also as you said, Shen Wei is a bit too out of it to know what's happened? So it stands fantastically well on its own, but if you wanted to add more details - you're such a good writer I could see a slightly longer version also being brilliant?

So yeah, that's no help at all I'm afraid! But if doing short pieces without scaffolding is new to you, maybe it'd be nice to post it just to see how people react, and have it in your AO3 catalogue of things you've actually written?

That is TOTALLY GOOD ADVICE and I will take it - I admit I asked my regular beta the same thing and she said SHUT UPPPP WITH YOUR ‘it’s probably too short and not comforting enough’ :D :D (she is also right)

So I will put it up on AO3 and just feel good about having finished a thing without overthinking it, and thanks for helping me figure that out!
