Sunday Snippet: Guardian

Life continues to be very busy but it's currently feeling...manageable? Yay for longer days, and for coffee & tea, and for getting to introduce things like Toy Story to kidlets for the first time (though the climax of Toy Story 3 was too intense and required cuddles. Aww.)

Plus, after almost three weeks of not writing a word, I seem to have found my way back to a few of them! And returned a fic I've been working on for over a year now. Does it still make sense? I don't even know! But I like the story (for the aaaaaaangst) and hope to someday share it in more than a few random pieces.

Until then, though -- another random piece:

Da Qing nodded. "Lao-Zhao's worried about the same thing. But what could they try this late anyway? If we sleep now, then we'll be awake later to catch them, whatever they're up to."

Which was uniquely feline logic, but Shen Wei could not deny that a little rest might be restorative. Or else that was just his own weakness--of his injured lung, and his heart too, when Da Qing said, imploringly, "Come on, Lao-Zhao will want me to tell him you got some sleep, and I hate lying to him..."

That was asking too much, perhaps; but Shen Wei at least changed into pajamas. He didn't go to the bedroom, though, but sat back down on the couch to meditate.

Da Qing grumbled, but sat down beside him, round and furred. Curling up with his curving spine pressed against the side of Shen Wei's leg, he said softly, "Shen-laoshi--it's going to be okay."

May all our lives be as manageable as possible -- and leave at least some time for fic! And thank you, it always is motivating to know someone's interested ^__^

Toy Story 3 was intense!

And oh oh oh I love Da Qing comforting Shen Wei.

Yeah, the scene at the dump with the incinerator she started crying going "I hope they're okay, I hope they're okay!" Which really is the same way I watch TV. And then we had a long conversation after about the bad guy's motivation. She's a budding fangirl 😊

Oh no, Shen Wei's injured! And not healing? And I love Da Qing being protective of him here in Zhao Yunlan's stead.

Ahhh I've been putting up deliberately obscure bits of this, I'm wondering if anyone will guess the plot. (Shen Wei actually did heal himself, just not completely, same as in the show his arm was still bothering him after healing. But he's got a lot more to worry about...)

I love the random pieces. The hints of all of their relatioships - and the angst! - are intriguing!

Always so nice to see fic with Da Qing in it ^_^ I do love it when he and Shen Wei interact.

Good luck on the writing! (and I don't blame the kidlets - I needed a cuddle after Toy Story 3, too!)

Shen Wei and Da Qing have such a history together, even if Da Qing (maybe?) doesn't remember it...and they can sympathize on the trials of loving Zhao Yunlan (it's stressful! he must give them so many heart attacks!)

For the kidlets it was the scary parts of Toy Story 3 that they needed reassurance for...but by the end I needed a cuddle myself (it's not really a Pixar movie if it doesn't make you cry at least once...!)

I just came across this in my DW catchup and I am having SO MANY FEELS about these two and the terrible things you're doing to them!! Thank goodness for Da Qing.

Oh man, I feel the kiddos on the Toy Story 3 need for cuddles. Those movies are like The Velveteen Rabbit turned up to eleven!

I love the snippet, too! I love how Da Qing is so catlike, and I love him curling up with Shen Wei so much. <3

I watched Toy Story 4 with them later and had Issues with it, so I'm just gonna consider the trilogy ended with 3, with all it has to say about growing up and love and friendship...
