cross-cultural fandom research
Jul. 9th, 2010 06:21 pmThis will probably come up again -
gnine is currently going for a Master's in media studies and is working on her thesis now, looking at how culture affects how people relate to media. She's particularly looking at the cross-cultural aspects of fandom, and while her focus is going to be on Japanese vs English-language media fandoms, right now she's hoping for a more general conversation. So if you've ever fanned on something that was in a different language or produced by a culture other than your own, or interacted with fans from another country, or if you sometimes squee or write fic in something other than your native language, she'd love to hear from you, as little or as much as you feel like saying on the topic.
(While you're there, you could also mention how much you'd like to see Ben 10 chibis...or how much I'd like to see Ben 10 chibis...)
