Can anyone upload documents to ff.net at present? People appear to be posting fic without trouble, but while I can log in fine, when I try to upload it either gives me an error message or a blank screen. And when I try to log in to Support, it just gives me a blank screen, so I have no way of reporting the bug. Not that I've ever gotten a response from ff.net's support but whatever. Get what you pay for with a free service, etc, but this has been happening for a few days now, and I'm getting right irritated, what with having fic I can't update... >_>

I'm getting that too, and am likewise irritated -- have a new chapter for a Bleach fic I want to add on.

Oh thank goodness. I was worried it was just me and/or my apaato's finicky wireless. And me being me, was thinking that I would never be able to post on ff.net EVER AGAIN OH NOES. Computers with their wily incomprehensible ways bring out the pessimist in me something fierce. But if it's a cross-continental problem then it'll probably be fixed. Eventually.

One certainly hopes so. Fingers crossed.

Whatever it is, I hope it gets fixed soon - nothing more irritating than being hindered in getting your feedback your creative process by inexplicaple machine glitches. *hugs*

FF.net's been weird lately. The login, email, review and alert systems have all been up and down. Of course this happened just after I updated -- which in some ways is even worse (lol).

Geetings!

It's been happening to me for MONTHS. I haven't written a bit of Eroica fic since I got on this VS kick again, and there's still a chapter of one of the Eroica fics that I've been unable to upload.

There's a notice on their main page that they had a hard drive failure, so it may be working again soon.

However ... what kind of file are you trying to upload? I've had MAJOR wonkiness, off and on, with uploading html files for months. My workaround is to upload a plain text file, then open it in the ff.net editor and paste the html into it. Very annoying, and I don't have to do it every time, but plain text seems to upload when all else fails.

I'm really getting fed up with ff.net, honestly. I mean, yes, it's a free site and it's a huge site, yatta yatta, but I really do believe that most of their problems are due to having overloaded the site with too many bells and whistles. All I want is just to be able to read and upload fanfic on the blasted site, and it seems like lately, half the time you can't.

Well, it seems to be working again for me now, so you might want to give it another shot? or try the upload-as-text-and-replace strategy that's commented about below...
(and yay for more Eroica fic! there really ought to be more people in the fandom...)

Well, it's working for me again...I've never had any trouble with HTML files berfore. Though next time it freaks on me I will definitely try your fix, thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah, ff.net is a love-hate relationship for sure. It's a great idea and more successful than any of its imitators, and for the largest audience that's the easiest place to go. But the more dependent you are on it, the more frustrating it is when it goes down...
