I agree with what you said. It makes sense for Lex to be afraid of an alien invasion after all that he has been through. It doesn't help the situation that Clark lies to him all the time and has always lied to him. I enjoy Smallville, but I have to say that Smallville's Clark is my least favorite. I know he still has some growing up to do, but he can be very thoughtless. Lex has always been a good friend to Clark, but Clark never trusted Lex enough to see that. It really irks me that Clark seems to trust Lionel more than Lex even though Lionel is the one that stockpiled the kryptonite, killed his parents, used Chloe to spy against Clark, made Jonathan convince the Rosses to sell their land and a slew of other nasty things. What has Lex done that hasn't been because Clark lies to everyone? If he knew the truth, he wouldn't be sneaking off to build weapons and do experiments, he would be trying to help Clark. What I hate the most is how Clark plays with Lex's emotions. He forgives Pete for giving him Red K while under the influence, Chloe for spying on him for Lionel, and even seems to forgive mutants. He forgives everyone but Lex. The way Lex has been written makes it very hard for me to ever see him as just a villan. He has too many layers and the way I see it, his villany stems from Clark's actions. These days when I watch Smallville, I just go with the flow because I'm tired of yelling at Clark through my tv. I'm really curious to see how the series will end and what Lex will become because right now I find myself loving Lex more than Clark, which has never happened in all the years I watched the movies, Lois and Clark(I liked Lex, but loved Clark more) and read the Comic books. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
You are so right
