Just finished Harry Potter 7. I'm not more than a passing fan, for which I think I'm grateful; if I'd been more into the series this finale might've broken me. As it was, I greatly enjoyed some bits, was troubled by other bits. And thus this silly ficlet, something of a (re)solution to one thing that bothered me. Set near the end of The Deathly Hallows so SPOILERS.

HP fic. With SPOILERS! I've mentioned the spoilers, right? And yes, it's too light under the circumstances, even for them, but the book was too heavy, so there you go!

Read "Spook" on AO3

And now I am going to watch more Jeeves & Wooster, or else hunt down more deliciously adorable Jeeves/Wooster fic. Mmmm. (I seem to be on a bit of Brit kick, what-ho!)

Aww. You have magical powers of make-it-all-better or something.

Fred so should be a ghost. A poltergeist even.

Aww! I loved this to bits! The first Harry Potter fic I've read in a long time too!

Do you mind if I pimp this in my LJ? I think my flist would love it

Fred's was the only death that really bothered me...the twins were always the surest source of humor, and to take that away was such a blow. But then it occured to me how darn much fun Fred would have as a poltergeist, and suddenly it wasn't a tragedy at all...!

First one I've written - I've never been into Potter!fic, but this was crying out to be done!

& I'd be totally honored to be pimped, please feel free, and thank you! ^_^

=D Fred needs to come back as a ghost.

I'm just an on again off agin HP fan since I've never been able to read through the entire book since the third one without skimming all the boring parts. I probably would have liked it more if I was younger when I got into it.

Oh, this is excellent. The only way to repair the emo tragedy of one dying without the other -- and it makes perfect sense that Fred would refuse to go through the veil, if he had the option of sticking around to haunt his twin. Only the two of them could find the fun in this. *loves*

I'm carefully commenting without looking at the entry, as I haven't read the book yet, but... please post recommendations if you find good Jeeves/Wooster fic! ^^ I've already found one really cute one (http://community.livejournal.com/indeedsir/303164.html) whose reason for Jeeves loving the young master I really like. ♥♥

This should have been in the book. Now I'm not nearly as sad over the loss of Fred. I felt awful over lots of things that happened in the end, but the twins...Every time they were in the book I kept worrying. Then my worries came true. :(

But this would be perfect! Not even Death can stop the Weasley twins from causign mischief!

I'm... I'm just going to pretend this is canon. >_>;; And I'm going to pimp it to my similarly heartbroken friends.

I ... I ... have no words for how brilliant this is. Fred's death was so shocking and sad, and that we didn't really get an aftermath (beyond that one scene of grieving Weasleys grouped around the body) was even worse. But this is perfect in so many ways -- a perfect fit with canon (where ghosts are an everyday fact of life), and with the characters, and just ... perfect! I love how neither one of them is particularly shocked or bothered by it, even in the initial moment of realization, much like the scene in the book when George lost his ear.

I'm like you, not a huge fan but (obviously) interested enough to buy and read the book on the day it came out. If I'd been deeply invested in the characters, parts of the book would have broken me (especially Snape ... oh, Snape). But this was just wonderful, and the idea of Fred as a ghost hadn't even occurred to me, so now this is going nicely into my personal canon.

(No HP icon, so Narnia will have to do!)

Here via [livejournal.com profile] inell's journal. What a fantastic bit of fun - I could just see both of them recognizing this as an opportunity.

This was a perfect pick-me-up after being so drained from reading DH.
(And watching a Jeeves & Wooster episode would probably help me too!)

The thought of Fred as a poltergeist is both hilarious and frightening.

I think I enjoyed the books the most by putting myself back in a child-mindset, though I needed to be an adult to handle that final bloodbath (I did not do well with deaths as a girl. Actually I'd've stopped reading when Hedwig died, had I been a kid, so...)

This is totally what Fred does. Hey, non-evil ghosts & poltergeists are absolutely canon, and why would Fred ever bother to go on without his twin?

That's what made his death hurt so, for me, because they can find the fun in anything, but alone...but they don't have to be alone! Not if they don't want to be! Hah!

Eeeee! I'd already read another by that very author, this one that has a touch of h/c that just melted me to little melty bits. There's also a nice set of recs here, I especially liked Shallot's (aka [livejournal.com profile] astolat; we were singing her praises to you before, now you can see why) and the end of "Wooster's School for Wayward Girls" cracked me up haard.

Ahhh and you gotta see more of the show, have you seen 3rd series yet? There's a wonderful bit they play piano together ^_^

I had almost convinced myself the twins were safe, that she wouldn't do that to them - and then that! Quite heartbreaking. But this made it better for me, so glad it works for you as well. Fred would enjoy himself far too much as a poltergeist...

And I'm always honored to be rec'ed, feel completely free! Just happy to know it's enjoyed by others as well!
