nekokoban was wondering why there wasn't more Dresden Files/Supernatural fic out there. And by more we mean any.

SPOILERS for Dresden book-verse.



Dean raised the machete. "All right, this son of a bitch goes down no--"

"Stop!"

It wasn't in Dean's usual repertoire to hesitate, but the ferocity in that low command stayed his hand, long enough to look up and see the staff. "...Shit."

"It's him," Sam said, as if Dean couldn't guess. Just like Ellen had said. How they'd missed the guy last time they were in Chicago, he couldn't guess. Duster like that stood out. And Christ, he had an inch or two on Sam, easy.

Not to mention the unholy spellfire dancing around the stick in his hand. That wasn't no bo. "Get away from him," commanded the wizard.

Backing down wasn't in Dean's repertoire, either. "Man, we got a job to do, and if you knew what this thing did--"

"Whatever you're thinking," the wizard said, "Thomas didn't do it."

He'd given it a name. Dean hated when they had names. "I know, it looks like a person, but it's a vampire, and this is how you deal with--"

"I know he's a vampire." The wizard sounded irritated. "He's also born in America. Innocent until proven guilty, etc. So you're going to put down your knife there and back away, slowly, or you're going to have a hell of a lot more to deal with." Scratch irritated; he sounded pissed. And the staff was changing colors, yellow fire flickering to blue-white. That couldn't be good.

"Hey, I thought you were one of the good guys," Dean said. "Law and order, protect and serve--why are you defending a monster like this?"

The wizard frowned, and then his eyes caught Dean's for one endless second--he'd been warned, but he didn't blink fast enough, and then there was fire and ice, thunder on a distant plain and the electric taste of an oncoming storm--

Then it was over, and he was standing there over the vampire again, and the wizard was looking at him, thoughtfully. "He's my brother," he said.

"Oh," Dean said. He glanced at Sam, let go of the vampire's black hair and took a step back. "All right, then. Sorry 'bout that."

I've only seen one Harry/Carlos (http://marmalade-skies.insanejournal.com/585.html#cutid1). There's a few Harry/Thomas floating around.

Hey, I've actually written Harry/Thomas! Sort of! In point of fact, trying to make him sleep with Harry was a terrible thing to do to Thomas, and I really felt bad about it ...

... but anyway, I just now read this little snippet and I liked it! Heee, protective Harry, I like it! You're right, there should be more crossovers with these two -- although the one problem I can see is that I'm not sure if the various supernatural creatures and magic systems for the two 'verses are compatible; it might be difficult to reconcile them, especially in a longer story.

Yeah, it'd be difficult to merge the worlds entirely. SPN is fairly flexible, though, I think enough to fit it into the much more developed Dresden 'verse. Especially since the Winchesters are mostly self-educated, so you could always say they got their info wrong...

I don't feel comfortable enough with either 'verse to write something longer, though, even if I didn't already have a billion things on my fic-plate!

Okay, I HAD to come over here and mention this; the timing is especially ironic, since I just read this story of yours today. I'm reading the Supernatural tie-in novel "Nevermore", and there's one point where Sam and Dean are being helped out by a New York cop who's telling them about an underground network of cops who are sympathetic to Hunters. And she lists them, including "... a woman in Chicago named Murphy."

... sneaky tie-in writer, very sneaky! So, see? If it's not canon, it's the next best thing! *grin*

I was given this one, and while it's pretty good, I don't think I would've bought it. The only thing I've been buying tie-in merchandise for lately is SGA (because I am just that pathetic) but I agree, fanfic is usually better than tie-ins with almost every fandom (and SGA is no exception to that). I think at least part of that is because you can "shop around" with fanfic to find the right kinks (i.e. h/c, in my case).

That was wonderful!! 'Course, I've only read the first DF book, so I don't know Thomas. I made the mistake of watching the show first and now I just can't get over the different Bobs. *sigh* Maybe someone could write a movieverse!DF/Supernatural crossover? I could totally see the Winchesters getting their asses kicked by Harry after trying to exorcise Bob. Or maybe Dean getting a beat down from whats-her-face Ancient Mai for screwing around with dark magic. *puppy-dog eyes* I have to rely on amazingly wonderful writers like you for my crossover fixes since my own writing skills are Not Good. Heh - I'm afraid I've never seen the show, save one episode, and since I'd read the books first I couldn't get over how different it was! The books are definitely worth getting into (and Thomas! Thomas makes everything better ^^)
