I have committed SGA slash. *hangs head* At least it's under 500 words? Warnings for unfulfilled PG McSheppiness. Tag to "Be All My Sins Remember'd", (it takes place immediately post-episode) so spoilers.

I woke up yesterday wondering this about the episode. (Fandom on the brain much?)

Read it on AO3

Heh, can you imagine the reactions if Rodney had actually created a John-bot? :D Probably better for everyone involved that it didn't go down that way.

Oh. That's nice, and by "nice" I mean "completely credible" and "HEART-BREAKING" because hel-lo, Rodney, this is the guy who made another man kill himself so you would live.

Looking forward to more from you.

This broke my heart a little. Your descripton of John was vivid.

Many of us *waves* see nothing shameful in committing SGA slash.

I really like this. It packs a punch for being so short, and I could easily see it happening. And Rodney's menatl list of John-things to avoid is both funny and lovely.

Ooh, nice tag! Because now I'm thinking: "So why did TPTB make it a femm-bot? Did they have character ideas? Ethics ideas? Audience reaction ideas?" I love stuff that makes my brain spin. *g* And of course I love how you turned this into a really cool John/Rodney moment.

But it was good...don't worry about the slash. Actually, some of us would like it if you wrote more....hint hint.

This was nicely done. Good job.

Ah, but who's to say Rodney wouldn't have gotten teased for constructing a boy toy if FRAN had been male? I think he couldn't have escaped the jokes either way. Actually, I'm surprised the fembot comment didn't make it into the episode. Maybe next week....

This was fun, and I liked the details, like Sheppard's raisin-picking. The only thing that made me sad was the implied misogyny in the fact that women were simple/easy/dismissable while Sheppard/male was worth paying attention to.

Dark siiiiiide! *grin* Loved the Rodney's-eye-view of John. You know, someone over at my LJ (I think that's where it was) commented that Rodney's fembot actually does look like John -- similar coloring, similar shape of face.

The only thing that made me sad was the implied misogyny in the fact that women were simple/easy/dismissable while Sheppard/male was worth paying attention to.

But isn't it kinda the other way around, actually? Sheppard suggests that Rodney should've made a (male) soldierbot that would've been easily disposable, rather than a female robot that garnered sympathy. While male over-protectiveness towards women is a whole other set of meta, it really doesn't fit with a "woman=disposable", "man=more worthwhile" model -- the only reason why (this version of) Rodney couldn't make it male was because he was already crushing on the male sitting across the table from him.

Ohh! Nice tag for that ep. I kind of liked Fran though. *misses her* But yes, it's the John and Rodney show, and no way could Rodney create a male replicator that DIDN'T look like Sheppard.

Nicely done!

That makes complete sense. The dismissal I was seeing wasn't in the ultimate disposability of the 'bot but rather in how Rodney expressed his desires -- in his remarks that the woman was easier to construct, simpler to imagine, hardly thought about, reduced to one identifying characteristic, while the guy was complicated and desirable. And I get what the story was going for (and I enjoyed it!), but for me it also hedged into the uncomfortable territory slash can be prone to where in order for one man to fall for another, all the women he's been/likely to be matched with must be put down or simplified or stereotyped, etc.

Oh very clever - I really liked that interpretation of why Rodney made Fran female. And his internal description of John...yum! :)
