So the story/author masterlist for the
sga_genficathon has been posted - check it out, a lot of great stories. And congrats and thanks and yays to
friendshipper for throwing together the whole deal - wasn't easy, especially with all these authors *coughyourstrulycough* giving her stories at the very last minute and then emailing her corrections and whines and - yah, she's awesome.
My story (
gnine maintains it's gen only by the broad definition, but I ask you, how does one write Sheppard-McKay friendship without that hint of more? I blame John.):
SGA: The Seat of Talents {~19,500 words}
PG, gen, for the theme "Friendship"/prompt "Self-Sacrifice"; set late 3rd season, pre-"Sunday"
The team gets caught in a trade deal that will have an unexpected cost for one of their four.
(& thank you, everyone who's left feedback - I will be responding to comments, soon as I get a spare second and working internet...!)

Seat of Talents: great story with a very original story plot! I felt so bad for McKay, he needs his music.

Date: 2008-04-22 11:30 pm (UTC)Wow. I mean, wow. I remember reading that'n when it was first posted, and being blown away then--but now, having gone back to re-read it, I'm just as amazed.
And as a piano player myself, I really, really feel for McKay, and you did a WONDERFUL job with his emotions and logic reasoning; it's entirely in-character with both Shep and McKay; the dialogue was prevalent, but not without being overly heavy or choking--and I'm still amazed at your ability to evoke character emotions without blatantly describing them.
(btw--I'm far too lazy to go back and reply to the Doctor Who post, but--after reading your last comment, and watching Pompeii again, I'm far more inclined to agree with your analysis of Donna. Martha's still my favorite, though >.> )
