Well, since Highlander was one of my first fandoms, um, yeah, I too have rewatched that scene. We had to rescheduled d&d night so I could watch the series when it first aired. My group was not so happy about it, until they started watching the show as well :D \o/

So bad, but I totally was. Methos/Duncan was one of my first do-or-die pairings.

The whole season around these episodes was one of my favorite in the Highlander'verse.

But that whole group of episodes were a Highlander high water mark. Of course leading to the actually scene that launched a thousand fics - the notorious "Double Quicken"!!

Methos/Duncan is one of those pairings that while I didn't see it at the time, in retrospect it's hard to make sense of their relationship otherwise. What with the whole love-at-first-sight, take-my-5,000-year-old-head-now-no-really-take-it! thing...

Yeah, they were stupid for each other from the jump.

And actually seeing them with the slash goggles I think only enhances everything around the Horsemen episodes, because Methos really breaks Duncan's heart - you can almost hear it breaking in during the car confrontation. And it's even more clear that Methos would totally have come to Duncan with the whole thing if Cassandra hadn't gotten to Duncan first an colored all future interactions on the subject.

I used to be able to recite whole pieces of dialogue from that show (my favorites were that scenes, the scene where Methos and Mac talk about the other Methos, and the scene where Methos, Joe, and Mac talk about Hilter) and I might be able to remember with prompting, but it's been ages since I have:) Just remembering their faces kills me though.

I'm not sure I'd get the recitation right, because frankly my memory is a splotchy, splotchy thing, but I could definitely hit the highlights. *g*

What I love are the outtakes, which emphasize even more that the whole vibe they had going on there was not at all an accident. And you can't even blame it on some random director, because it was Adrian Paul himself behind this one.

Methos in that entire arc just kills me dead, really, with that hunted feel to him, like the world is falling apart every way he turns and he's just trying to triage the damage. Not that Methos eating toast wouldn't kill me dead, mind you. Oh, the Peter Wingfield love, it is strong.

I, uh, might have to go watch it again now. Yum.

I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry over the fact that my offspring lay claim to such achievements as this. Bad enough that you still can sing the whole presidents song from Animaniacs and at one time--probably still--had the entire script to Empire Strikes Back committed to memory. **Shakes head hopelessly**

I admit that until I read some of the responses to this post and saw the link to the scene, I didn't even recall which scene you were referring to... but yes, I think even I watched that scene more than once. As an aside: I wasn't particularly aware of or into slash when I saw that show, so I don't remember it occurring to me at the time; but it's rather inescapable now I see these two together again; there must be a heck of a lot of Methos/Duncan slash fic out there because they sure are slashy. And very very pretty. Now I'm wanting to watch the four horsemen ep again... I wish you two were nearby so we could indulge in such trash together now and again.
