Interesting. See, I do think they know what they're doing, but i think they're not trying to write a terribly classic Sci Fi show - I think the terminator / Sky Net arc is the least of their goals. Instead, they are week by week absolutely fucking with gender, especially in season two, and it goes further than the twist of Sarah being in a man's role - it goes to the gendering of the machines themselves, to the Wizard of Oz moment where everyone is in a role you wouldn't expect, to the trans character in the last episode but one, to the question of whether Cameron is female, or robot, or imprinted, or whatever. That's what has me continue to tune in week after week, and I absolutely, no holds barred, love it for that.
And interestingly, the one episode lead-written by a woman so far was absolutely the weakest on gender politics. So they're fucking with (my) gender expectations on every level.
