5 reasons to watch
Apr. 10th, 2009 04:59 pmFor everyone on the flist who's been looking at my recent posts, wondering what the heck is up with my latest obsession: five graphic reasons to watch The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
1) Because in the '60s, they hadn't yet invented the concept of "personal space."

Or at least David McCallum & Robert Vaughn never got the memo.

2) Bondage. Seriously. Someone on this show had a kink.

As I was saying...
3) The love affairs never interfere with the partnership - they just add spice.

"I think you're going to need me."

4) Turns out, the standards of male pulchritude have not changed significantly in the last forty years.

Mmmm~
5) If you don't watch, you'll never know what's actually going on here:*

*THE FINE PRINT: Even after you watch, you'll still have no idea what is actually going on.

Date: 2009-04-10 11:04 am (UTC)And the pics, mmmm...oh man, that first pic, is that from The Foreign Legion Affair? eeeee. And the "kiss", naturally, is fantastic. And I almost put up that last pic myself, as more proof of the lack of personal space (seriously, where is RV's arm going there?!) - though I didn't because I haven't been able to figure out where it's from, is it a set-photo or what? (also DMc's makeup freaks out my friend. I find it bizarrely hawt, myself, but...)

Date: 2009-04-10 10:59 am (UTC)(I actually think it's more that TV shows - American ones, anyway - have gotten weirder about personal space recently...when you watch bloopers/behind the scenes for most shows, the actors tend to touch more than they do in the actual shows...sigh! I don't really care if it's slashy or smarmy, I love the touchy-feely!)

Date: 2009-04-10 11:07 am (UTC)LOL In the last picture, Napoleon looks like he doesn't even know what the fuck is going on. Perhaps he's really looking at the director. "Dude, seriously... What is my motivation??"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-10 11:10 am (UTC)and the director replies, "Really, I think your motivation is obvious, no?" and hands him the KY... XDDDD

RV looked great in those light gray suits. But do you have none of Illya in the black turtleneck?

Date: 2009-04-10 03:02 pm (UTC)RV is dashing (as Illya says)...and Illya's black turtleneck, ah yes! obviously I will have to pic-spam more...

Date: 2009-04-10 03:41 pm (UTC)But I have to admit that much as I love the no-personal-space rule (and I do, I really do), I also really enjoy those momentary breakdowns between men who normally resist intruding on each others personal space, except when they really can't help themselves. Ahh, reluctant slash... it is a fine thing.

Date: 2009-04-10 06:15 pm (UTC)...My problem is that I love hugs (platonic, slashy, whatever) and there's none of those, sigh... (putting aside a certain A-team episode.) But then about the only show I watch that gives me anywhere near my recommended embrace allotment is New Who... XD

buttsexsubtext...no subject
Date: 2009-04-10 06:19 pm (UTC)Putting aside the subtext, it's a crazy fun show. Well, if you like cracky '60s semi-camp, anyway. But it can be witty, and it's also one of those shows that all the actors are obviously having a blast making idiots of themselves, which is always entertaining...
