MFU fic: Discretionary Powers

Today was a ficcing day. Short and quite silly; sweet if I'm lucky and maybe a little hot (if I'm really lucky). Thanks to gnine for the quick read-through, as well as for the deep and meaningful (okay, shallow and punchdrunk) discussion late last night (okay, early this morning) that led to the idea in the first place.

MFU: Discretionary Powers {~2,300 words}
PG-13; Napoleon/Illya slash; first-time, fluff
U.N.C.L.E. effects a change in policy, and Illya takes advantage.

( "I have just heard from Mr. Waverly," Illya said. "Subsection C of Rule 37 has officially been rescinded from the U.N.C.L.E. Code of General Conduct." )

Adorable! Oblivious Napoleon and Devious/Determined Illya are cute like tiny ponies. Or possible even cuter.

I also want to particularly squee at Napoleon adjusting his cufflinks and straightening his tie after being ravished in the cafeteria. It just seems like a very Napoleon thing to do.

Poor Napoleon - left to think he had completely and very embarassingly misread the situation for two years while Illya conducted his behind the scenes crusade. Good thing he has such a healthy ego :)

And the very thought of Illya jumping Napoleon's bones in front of God and everybody in the cafeteria is just too delicious for words.

I can't tell you how fun this story was! I would love to read Illya's official letters of protest - I imagine they'd be dry and biting. And I love that Illya gets his by-the-books affair by changing the books. It's almost like one of those 'In Soviet Russia' jokes. Or maybe not, it's rather late.

*grins* This is delightful. Totally aside from the concept being GENIUS, the voices have just the right balance of totally-ridiculous-situations played utterly straight (the "Rule 37, Subsection C." "Rescinded, you said?" exchange made me laugh out loud), and Napoleon's inner commentary is hilarious ("one hell of a research proposal," indeed). The ending revelation was the cherry on top, belying Illya's composure in the best way possible. Really, really fun. :D
