Okay, so the elevator story might be my new favorite Gintama one-shot. (Well, maybe second; the umbrella story is still so adorable it hurts). But how can you not love a story with Our Heroes getting stuck in an elevator, with neither a bomb nor a devil nor even a pregnant woman, just an old security guard with an increasingly hysterically tragic story. And Gintoki and Kagura do not deal well with low blood-sugar, and Gin-san is the worst and world's most irresponsible adult/mentor figure ever (but we already knew that) and poor, poor Shinpachi, your family are such complete idiots - but they really do love you very much. The end was so very AWWWW. Okay, it's really dumb and ultimately pointless AWWWW, but still!


(no, I will never not be weak to holding, no matter how silly the circumstances).

And Fight Shounen solutions to ordinary everyday problems for the win. (Especially when the Fight Shounen powers require Fight Shounen activation! Of course the heroes can't just bash down the doors; they need the proper motivation!) And playing Magical Banana in the elevator shaft, and just, AWWWWWWWWWWWW~!

ETA: Apparently I'm not the only one; I just stumbled upon this lovely bit of Japanese fangirl(?) squee from back when the chapter first came out - "YES!! 万事屋サイコー!!! 可愛いぞ～コイツら～!!!!!" Yep, that's exactly how I felt! ^_^

Wellll...to be honest I'm not sure; I have a short fannish attention span but I have been known to return to fandoms years later. And I'm still very fond of Rodney and his team, and I have at least one very long unposted McShep fic that I'd dearly love to finish someday. Especially if there ever is a movie or somesuch, I might come back.

For the moment, though, yes, it seems like I'm onto other things. But SGA was one of my longest and most involved fandoms, and I had a great time with it - and thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed the stories!

I love how any given ep has about a 85% chance of ending up ridiculously LOL silly and/or unbelievably vulgar, a 10% chance of being actually tearjerkingly tragic, and about a 15% chance of going totally unexpectedly adorable. (and yes, the percentages don't add up; there's a fair bit of overlap!) It keeps you on yours toes, watching. ^__^
