So the brother marched into my room yesterday and informed me that I had to catch up with Homestuck OR ELSE (or else being a massive spoiler dump). So now I am caught up (through this page for anyone visiting from the future/alternate timeline) and:

So uu is actually Lord English? After he kills Calliope?

No wonder he's so hard to kill, if he's gone through the game himself and become god-tier.

Also, the brother points out that while it hasn't officially given his hero title yet, the male counterpart to Muse must be Lord.

So he's the Lord of Time.

WHICH EXPLAINS THE COAT and why it looks so very much like a certain very distinctive scarf and AGHRJKDFAKFLAJFDK;LAF;L ANDREW HUSSIE YOU ARE THE LORD OF (really really really dumb) PUNS.

(and of course the Doctor is British and UU the "limey"blood using U- or non-U English and what is this, I don't even, this is on another plane up from wordplay, another dimension of ridiculous iconography that someday someone should write a book on because what AH does to language and symbolism in HS is like nothing I've seen before...)

--Also the bro has maybe-not-so-crazy theory that since Calliope's dream-self is dead, when she does go to sleep she's out in the dreambubbles - and maybe is the Horrorterrors? Are they her dead-dream-self's self?

Does the red sun turn green when Calliope sleeps? Or is it actually the green sun going supernova after eons?

And WHY do they have the Sufferer's signs? Is that not really the Vantas sign at all? He was the "Signless" after all; did it get adopted by mistake, when really it's supposed to be the sign of the lime-bloods? (But why does Aranea wear it then...?)

Finally it must be said: Calliope is SO ADORABLE omg.

Also, not spoilery, but I still love that this is a story where a girl can say "I love you" to another girl, and then clarify that she means it in a BFF way - and then quickly and concernedly apologize that she's not sure how the other girl feels about her and she hopes she didn't put her foot in something. That everyone considers and acknowledges same-sex attraction being a thing, as valid and worthy (or unworthy) of note as opposite-sex - it's just nice to see (plus there are two confirmed canonically gay characters, in addition to more than half the main cast being bi/pan, which is also nice.)(and one char who I personally have decided to take as asexual even though he might just be not old enough/not have the time for romance now. Also I ship him with pretty much everyone but OH WELL.)

Oh man, Calliope IS the cutest! I find uu super adorable too, I don't even care if he may very well become Lord English somehow. I just find something precious about what an awful little shit he is. I'm going to coo so hard when they finally switch. Because I have the most questionable taste in characters I like ever.

As for them having the Sufferer's signs, I just assumed that was a part of Calliope's troll cossplay. Although then again, it's worn split into two parts when she wears it and it's not silver. So I don't know. (I really want to know more about the pre-scratch troll session. Because there must be some reason Aranea is wearing the Sufferer's sign... unless she picked it up after the fact while watching things play out..... can dream bubble ghosts do that?)

Heeee I love how you love the utter assholes - I do as well if more erratically, but I entirely get what you see in them ^^ And so curious to see uu as "himself"...

The Sufferer's signs on Calliope's cuffs miiiiight be cosplay, but I wasn't sure if she's still in costume now? And Aranea wearing it I suspect is something else, but not sure what...I do wonder if it's not really supposed to be the Vantas sign but got co-opted. Will see!

Calliope is adorable. HER LITTLE FAAAAAACE. And I love that even though she's a total stereotypical fangirl, she doesn't come across creepy and stalkery -- she's so cute, and so obviously sincere in her affections for her fannish love interests, even though they're "real" people. (Unlike, say, SPN's attempt to portray a similar kind of character.)

Your theory about the sun being green when uu is in charge -- oooh, creepycoolinteresting! And it does seem like a very Homestuckish sort of thing to do.

I am VERY curious about the cherubs' use of Signless's sign! (And I never noticed Aranea wore it - she does? *goes to see*)

I think Calliope comes across as so sweet because, unlike SPN's fangirl, she's not being portrayed as pathetically eccentric and obsessed to the point of disconnecting with reality; instead she's getting emotional satisfaction and connection in her fanning that she cannot get elsewhere in her life, that expands her understanding of herself and helps her relate to other people. It's a very positive depiction of fanning and the benefits of becoming involved with fictional (or "fictional") worlds and characters...

Yes, Aranea wears a necklace with the Signless's sign, I've been wondering about it since she appeared!

I knooow! I made a post too after the page when we first got to see Calliope's face. Hee.

And yeah. "Lord" would definitely fit as being the most powerful active male class. Not to mention that Lord English is definitely a time demon. I didn't even think of the coat lining = scarf thing but yeeeah... Hussie skdjfhkdeghjf.

And Dirk accuses UU of "pretending to be British". XD

As for the cancer sign, we do know that in the post-scratch Alternia (which our trolls come from), the Signless didn't have a sign, because he was never given one at birth. And the cancer sign was used after his death because it looked like the shackles he was tortured with. And then Karkat got that sign (and a red-blooded lusus) because of sufferist manipulations.

The question is what it was like pre-scratch... In that version, Karkat was the "Sufferer's" ancestor, so if one of them didn't have a sign for being a mutant, it would probably be him, arriving first. On the other hand, I doubt Karkat started a religious sect and was tortured to death in that world.

It's weird that Aranea wears the sign as a necklace! It doesn't seem to be a thing to wear another person's sign. Redglare wore the cancer sign as a necklace too, but that was because she was a sufferist...

I'm pretty sure Hussie will explain it all to us and make us go ooh sooner or later.

The brother is the one who pointed out that it had to be Lord, and the Lord of Time and the coat and all...pfffaw so ridiculous and so awesome and so...so...so HOMESTUCK!

Aranea has that line ""what's his face" Vantas" that implies that pre-scratch Sufferer was a nonentity...so Aranea is either wearing his post-scratch sign for some reason (picked it up in the dreambubbles?) or it meant something else pre-scratch. Very curious!

And yeah, I love John more than ever for his feelings on romance ^^

"what's-his-face Vantas" was just Aranea referring to the Vantas person in her own party, though. Who would have been the pre-scratch Sufferer. Like she referred to Redglare as "Pyrope" and such. And that she specifically said "what's-his-face" was just teasing fandom, because we want his first name, dammit! XD

She hasn't said a word about the people who were her group's Ancestors... I'm curious!

The timey-wimey is making my head hurt - but it is kind of awesome. So awesome! And Calliope is seriously adorable, too, which makes me really happy. I already love her, and she's only been in a fraction of the story!

I'm pretty sure it means (post-scratch?) Dave was involved. We do know that he did send up a bunch of surplus shitty stuff into space!

...on the other hand, Calliope tells the kids that she's in a different universe. Which used to imply Alternia, but doesn't have to, and in either case how would Dave's shitty Statues of Liberty end up there?

...on the other other hand, they seem to be living on a crashed meteor from the Veil. And stuff can end up in strange places by traveling through the Medium...

Oh god, I hadn't picked up on the possible U and Non-U reference, ugh. That's awesome. As is the idea of the Red Sun turning green when Calliope sleeps. That might tie in with the fact that neither of them can access what they put in their sylladex themselves? Because the Green Sun seems to definitely be Calliope's space powers that uu is using, not his time powers which presumably he doesn't need the sun for.
