Twin Peaks fic
Mar. 29th, 2005 08:18 pmFor the love of cherry pie, why is no one writing me Twin Peaks fic? Okay, so the series is going on 15 years old, all but passed into media oblivion, and the fan-writers have long since migrated to other series, leaving behind only stories fossilized in now inaccessible print zines, since their time was but the dawning of the Internet. But still. We're talking one of the worst cliffhangers ever inflicted on fen, with no canonical closure ever granted. I need fic. I crave it. I am given no choice here, people. Blame
gnine for exposing me to begin with. "Oh, it's not a series you fan on, it's just fun to watch." But there's Cooper, J-chan. Cooper.
So. Fic. Gen, post-finale exploration/extrapolation, great big spoilers for the whole show (though not Fire Walk With Me, since I haven't watched it yet). In my mind the story continues, but that'd be several years down the line and require much more angst and plot and writing than I have time or mental space for.
Good will always triumph over evil. That doesn't mean it's a happy ending.
Read "Victory" on AO3

Well, clearly your friend is either a liar or on serious drugs, whereas you are right on with the CooperLove. Mmm, Cooper.
There is some Twin Peaks fanfiction floating around. Weirdly, it’s easier to find crossover stories (lots of X-Files, surprise surprise) than canon-only fics. I haven’t found a gen story archive, but there is one for slash: Bookhouse Boys (http://www.ravenswing.com/~tiriel/archive.html).
I’m currently at work on a Twin Peaks overview and a list of stories for the fanfic rec community

Date: 2005-03-30 08:59 am (UTC)Heh, my sis wasn't lying per se, it's just that not all series I fan on I write for, and she was betting I wouldn't for TP. She underestimated Cooper. Seriously. It's Coop; what could I do! Gotta love a guy who's that totally neurotic, and yet that perfect.
Have seen that archive before, but thanks all the same! Having been through it...shame the list's no longer active. And the thing is, it's pretty much all smut. Not that there's anything wrong with smut! But I was hoping for something else...(and why is there only the one Cooper/Harry series? I mean, I adore Albert, but...was I the only one seeing the chemistry there? *whine*) There's a few more pages w/ fic listed here, but not much. I know there were at least a few novella-length zines printed, back in the day...if only I could get my paws on 'em now.
Oooh, looking forward to the crack_van post! If you want any assistance with that, let me know, would love to help raise interest. Maybe it'll draw other fic out of the woodwork - there must be some, I'm convinced, hiding in someone's journal or a drabble list somewhere (wishful thinking?) Well, if the whole series finally comes out on DVD as might be happening this year, that might help...

Oh, and as for newer fics, there are a couple at Silverlake (http://www.imjustsayin.net/silverlake) and The Obscure Fandom Secret Santa Project (http://www.yuletidetreasure.org).

Date: 2005-03-30 06:42 pm (UTC)Huge fan that I am, I have actually done some very unfruitful fic searches for TP fan fic in the past, and have been so disappointed in what I saw. Its pretty sad when a fandom that you love just seems to dry up. Especially since its AFTER the show/series/whatever ends is when you really need good fan fic to feed from.
And speaking of good fan fic...this is, of course, wonderful! You really captured the characters well. This bit totally has the Twin Peaks feel to it through and through. God, I miss that show. Thanks for giving me another taste of it!!! ^_^

Date: 2005-03-30 07:48 pm (UTC)And I would love to give feedback on sections - mmm, yes, explaining the show will be a trick, especially if it's without spoilers, and you really don't want to spoil people who haven't seen it. Tho' I've noticed the fic side of the fandom for the most part shares our Cooper-bent, so that should simplify things a bit...anyway, you can email me at my gmail account, which is xparrotx.

Date: 2005-03-30 08:03 pm (UTC)I just saw it for the first time, and there's not much of a fandom out there at all anymore, which is most distressing. No one to share the Cooper-love! Except I seem to have fans on my flist - so they're out there, just mostly dormant. There's a few fics online, if you poke through the links in the comments above. Not many and not much that's very long (sigh), but good nonetheless. And glad you liked mine! ^_^
...now, you totally, totally want to rewatch TP and write fic
for me. Really you do.no subject

Date: 2006-12-22 05:03 am (UTC)Would you happen to know of any TP fanvids? The closest I’ve come to finding one is a multifandom vid set to “Gay Bar” that includes a clip of Cooper and Agent Bryson.
