A few encouraging fannish things!

undeadrobins is hosting a pan-fandom Kissathon -- gen/platonic as well as ships; stop by and leave a prompt or a fill!
I just posted a fill - WeiLan, naturally, to her lovely prompt "a surefire way of stopping an argument"
Still blocked; efforts at writing every day have been encouraged by sakana17 hosting this month's appropriately named Write Every Day event. ...Which I haven't actually gotten up the whatever to check in on, since I've mostly only been managing a couple hundred words. But seeing the daily check-in posts has been inspiring, and it means by the end of the week I find myself with a thousand-odd words that I didn't have before; I'll take it!
And also! naye, who last month posted a podfic of my completely ridiculous Guardian fic Out of Focus, just followed it up with a podfic of the sequel Focus Pull. Which is even more ridiculous and also over 20K -- the podfic is 2.5 hours long, guys!!! -- and is one of the most fluffily self-indulgent things I've ever written and I kind of love it too much, and I love the podfic way way too much. It's beautiful and perfect and her drunk!Shen Wei voice is amazing and hilariously adorable. Go listen and tell
naye she is brilliant and also completely nuts!

Date: 2020-03-26 01:51 am (UTC)Writing every day really is a great thing for so many reasons. I have just decided that I will try to do it, too, starting tomorrow; I've been SO slow to get back into writing, and I really miss it (even as I procrastinate like a mad procrastinating thing).
I have a few that yeah, I don't actually care if no one else likes them because they're so much for me!
YES! I mean, I am not quite this zen; I am still disappointed if no one else likes them. But! In the end, YES, now these stories I so wanted to read exist, and I can read them. And reread them. Forever. ;-)
I've been forced to write a number of stories for the sole reason that nobody else was writing them for me. It would have been so much less work if they had, but nooooo. They were busy writing the stories *they* wanted to read, imagine that. ;-)
The 520 challenge - no, this time I am determined to stand firm. It would be cool to have that external kick to actually get writing and get something done, but judging by my track record, I'd end up almost finishing one story, then abandoning it and writing another one in a panic at the last minute. I can do without that kind of stress right now... and I have way too many stories and story ideas already in the pipeline!

Ahahah I mean, yeah, I will never not be mopey about stories that aren't as liked. But there are a number I did write primarily for me, and some of them I've reread enough times to probably account for the time I spent writing them, so, worth it? And yes, sometimes we have no choice, I mean, if we want a story to exist and no one else is getting around to it, what are we to do!?
Maybe we can do some kind of very low-key not-quite-a-challenge for those of us who could use a bit of an external kick/deadline, but a very light one? Perhaps something to encourage us on those fic we've already started, or have been meaning to...

Oooh, that sounds like an excellent idea! Just something like a slightly more goal-oriented writing every day? With low-pressure check-ins, like a virtual writing group... *ponders*
