(Forgot to mention before, ye olde webpage finally got updated with near all my fic, so those allergic to ff.net can read without risking anaphylactic shock.)
In brand-new all-
gnine's-fault-so-don't-blame-me fandom news - ah, Vancouver. I've missed your gray skies on my screen. And watching the crew credits of Supernatural feels like an X-files class reunion. David Nutter, Kim Manners, John Shiban - now if only they could haul Darin Morgan on board. It's not the greatest of shows, but it's not bad, either, in that it doesn't try to be anything more than it is, a spooky little classic horror story anthology. And oh, the brothers. They are cute. Irresistibly, irritatingly, inspiringly cute...
Nameless drabble. Quote from the end of "Nightmare."
He was too young to remember, Sam knows, but part of him must anyway, must remember the heat of the fire through the blankets, through his brother's arms wrapped around him, not letting go though an infant's a heavy burden to a four-year-old.
He must remember. Dean tells him, "Nothing bad is going to happen to you," but Sam knows it's not true. Jessica's blood on his face, warm--hot; burning; and then she's burning; and no one could have saved him from it.
But he must remember, because Dean says that, and even knowing he's lying, Sam believes him.
What? It's a drabble! Only a hundred words! ...stop looking at me like that.

Date: 2006-02-19 06:23 am (UTC)...sigh. I'm only here for another six months or so - I want to enjoy the fanning on Japanese stuff while in Japan! Western fandoms will still be there when I return to Europe, while everything Japanese will be so far away... *whimper*
(Says she with no internet to download anything...)

Date: 2006-02-19 07:51 am (UTC)(though some of it is a timing thing - if this were an older show it would be one thing, but there's something delightful about getting into a fandom at its birth, and if I waited until I got back it wouldn't be as young anymore. not to mention I'm already in plenty enough Japanese things already, my bank account is quite quite happy that I might be distracted. ...or not. I just got the niftiest little plastic DBZ figures. Eheh. Those damn vending machines are gonna kill me faster than the manga >__>)

Date: 2006-02-21 11:03 pm (UTC)I was thinking about fandoms... one thing that struck me is that I am old enough to be enchanted by the way the Internet brings together people who share the same interests, but approach them totally differently (like that glorious day when LOTR fans all over the world woke up an realized there was a planet full of other people who had memorized the book too -- all of whom, inexplicably had managed to misinterpret it!)
Anyway, my best friend onlie has a passionate interest in what I can only describe as a bweildering number of fandoms, each of which has an even more overwhelmingly large cast of characters! Interestingly, although I've never been drawn to actually read any of the mangas involved or watch the shows, I adore reading her fics and hearing her desciptions... I guess I just find her versions so satisfying, I don't need the original.
I'm at the other end of the continuum. At 13 I fell in love with Aragorn. An extremely satisfying one-sided affair that has continued until this day. He remains my favorite calendar; the LOTR remains my favorite book. The only story that has come close to being in the same universe (aside from 4 of Jane Austin's 6 novels) in terms of my interest is Yugioh and Seto Kaiba, and a certain soft spot for Rurouni Kenshin.
Anyway, I hope you're enjoying Japan and it's living up to expectations. I admit to a hopelessly Rurouni Kenshinized mental image of Kyoto... part of me believes the Ao-Ya exists.
Well this was long enough, I should have saved it for my eventual email... but too late...
