Regarding Princess Tutu: yes, whatever you've heard of this series is true; it's fairy tale crack, a cracked fairy tale that will tiptoe in on little ducky feet and steal your heart. (And does anyone have a full listing of the soundtrack music? I recognized most of the pieces but there were a few I don't know, and want, badly, from the penultimate episode especially.)

And I wrote fic. Which I know I shouldn't have--I liked the ending, very much, really it was just how it should have been. But. Well. Yes. So. Fic:

Series: Princess Tutu
Warnings: Spoilers for the anime's finale, + gruesome quantities of sap with my newest het OTP. (Which is something of a spoiler in itself, I think; at least it would have been for me.)

I love, love, love this fic and it has made me so incoherent that I can't do anything other than squee at it.

"And you broke it," he says, swallowing, "so you might as well have this piece."

I just. *flails*

Also, I think everyone who's seen Tutu eventually writes a post-series story, even if it's just in their heads, so, uh, I wouldn't worry about whether you shouldn't. :D

I think the reason I feel a bit weird about writing this is that everyone does imagine their own ending, as you said, and that's part of the magic of it, so maybe I'm spoiling something by sticking my own ideas into peoples' heads...

That being said, so very glad you enjoyed it! ^_^ By the series' end I was head over heels for them, so...had to do something about it!

You write. I read. It's a compulsion. Even if the reading makes little sense to me. But it intrigues. Mayhaps we'll have to watch this together afterall, when you come home in December. ^_~

Argh, no! spoilers! I said spoilers! did I not say spoilers?! thou shalt now promptly forget anything thou read (whether it made sense or not) because - spoilers!!

Since when have spoilers ever stopped me? I'm not quite as bad as your sister--I don't deliberately start novels at the end. But a spoiler for something I'm not likely to seek out on my own? It only serves to whet the appetite. Besides, you know what my memory for this kind of stuff is like. I have over three months (alas!) to forget any and all spoilers before you bring this home to me. Just keep feeding me other things to distract me, like the Sanzo Ikkou and Spectrum and Cale/Quest (and dare I suggest Ban/Gin?) between now and then, and you will erase all signs of the above from my memory.

If I didn't know you better, I'd suspect you of using this opportunity as a fiendish ploy to wile more fiction outa me...

LOL! Again, I defend myself by reminding you that it's another domain in which I'm not NEARLY as bad as your sister! And at least my begging generally isn't for entirely new stuff that will take your focus away from what you're already working on!

Aah, so I'm not the only one afflicted with that particular compulsion; perhaps we should form a support group? ^_~

By the way [livejournal.com profile] xparrot, have I mentioned lately that you're an awesome writer? 'Cuz I should have. ^_~ (even if I HAVENT watched this series, and now have to go find it... Darn you! *laughs*)

Aah, so I'm not the only one afflicted with that particular compulsion;

No, it's a virulant disease that has stricken a few others I know, too. Unfortunately one does not build up immunity through repeated exposure. In fact, those most prone to it are those who have already succumbed before, particularly those who suffer the periodic insatiable cravings of Addictive Smarm Syndrome and/or Obsessive Hurt/Comfort Disorder.

Ahhh, no, all you peoples reading spoilerific fic! But glad you enjoyed it - thank you! ^_^ (and it is a great series, if you're in the mood for cracked shoujo. Only 26 eps, too, we watched it in about 3 nights. Totally worth the time...)

I haven't watched this series either, but it really doesn't matter, because your writing makes it beautiful.

"She was destined to be a princess, but in the end she's only a duck. He was destined to be a warrior, but in the end he's just a writer. But she'll always be a dancer, and so will he."

Enchanting.

Glad you liked it! (though that line I can hardly take credit for - it's not an exact transcription, but pretty close. The series has some beautiful concepts...) ...ah, though, I should've warned better! it is a wonderful series, and I'm really afraid I might've spoiled it for some of you ^^;;;

♥!! What timing! I finally get around to friending you (I really did mean to do it earlier, but I haven't been online much the past couple weeks) just in time for you to post Tutu fic. Yay! The world needs more Fakir/Ahiru goodness.

Glad you enjoyed it! ^_^ Yah, we just watched Tutu for the first time, and I was OTPing on them by episode 8 (and thought I was crazy at first. I should really know shoujo better than that)...I was so squeefully happy at the ending. ^^ (...btw, where does your impossibly adorable icon image come from???)

*running off to friend you now, since I hadn't gotten around to it yet myself ^^;*

Ha! By, like, episode two, I was shouting, "Forget the prince! Fakir's WAY more interesting!!" at the screen. I love the entire second half of the series to pieces. (Not that I didn't like the first half, just...well, you know.)

My icon is from a doujinshi, actually. That was a very happy find.

Oh lord, I want that doujinshi, if the rest of it's one tenth as cute as that pic...!

Yeah, I liked the series from the start, and was fascinated by Fakir's obvious big issues from the beginning, but I fell in love with how everything developed...the 2nd half was all sorts of sheer awesome. I still want some music geek to write up a list of all the composers and pieces. My knowledge of the classical isn't l33t enough....

...I don't have that one, but I do have one? ^_^ You can probably find a handful if you look in the aniparo shelves! The ones I saw didn't even look horribly scarring, just cute. (Does Manraku have an aniparo shelf or not? I can't remember if I ever found one...)

Also, this fic is love. ♥ It needs to be said more. With hearts. ♥ It's prefect. Winter magic. And he cries, because the two of them are in love like that. ♥

Well, that picture was my favorite part of it, but it was cute, yes. If you'd like, I could scan the cover, so you can keep your eye out for it. (Um, once I find it, I mean...My stuff is not real organized right now.)

I'm pretty sure that someone has written out a list of all the music used; I saw somebody on the animeondvd.com forums that was working on it. I'll have to see if I can dig up the list.

Oh, you're writing Tutufic! (And I think that just about everyone in the fandom has either written or wanted to write post-series Fakir/Ahiru. It's inevitable, like death and taxes.)

As for the soundtrack, a link to the torrent for it was posted at [livejournal.com profile] princesstutu awhile back. And there was a site with a scene-by-scene breakdown of what was playing when; the site is kaput, but you might be able to find it using the Wayback Machine or something similar.

Well, maybe not "writing" so much as "wrote"...as you say, everyone has to do it sometime, but I don't think I'm going to be doing more for this series. The show already said everything I'd want to say, really.

Thanks for the comm link! Am going through the archives now...I've found a couple scene listings online for the first half of the show, but none for the second...the search continues!

I agree, I love the openness of the ending, the bittersweet freedom of all possibilities (...for that matter, this story isn't necessarily a happy ending, because there's no guarantee it came true, after all...)

In all honesty, not sure I'll ever write more Tutu fic - the series was so fulfilling for me all on its own that I hesitate to tread further on its webbed toes.
But very glad you enjoyed my brief foray! ^^

That is BEAUTIFUL. And I love love love that this story is the story Fakir's writing, or one of the ones he keeps writing, trying to find the right words, the right story. This is amazing, thank you.

lovely!

well, because, you know, the end of the series makes total sense and is how things should turn out with a story like this, and I understand that and everything, but at the same time the girlygirl in me is like "GODDAMMIT, SCREW LITERARY STORYTELLING TROPES" XD; Thank goodness for fanfic!

I haven't seen the ending to Tutu yet, but I don't think you spoiled too much for me. ^_~ It was worth it anyways.
And it rocks my socks that I wasn't the only one thinking of this couple while watching the show. XD
