drabbling, superhero style

Just a few Justice League Unlimited drabbles, because this series kicks much of the ass. (It's a bit embarrassing how much better it is than SV, being a cartoon and all.) These will probably be nonsensical if you haven't seen the show. (And, yes, maybe a bit Clex-y, because. Totally canon, yo. "None of that matters now, Lex!" Awws.)

Batman & Superman, probably around 2nd season:

Reaching Out

"Why should I?"

Batman's reply was uncharacteristically slow in coming. "Luthor's not a sociopath. Trust me, I know those."

"He's the enemy."

"He's a criminal. Not a Capulet; this isn't Shakespeare. This isn't an ecosystem; we don't have natural predators."

"He's evil."

"He could be more. He could be so much more and you know that better than anyone, Kent. This might be the last chance. Go to him. Not through the window for once. Knock at the door, without the cape. Just see what happens. You owe it to try."

"I owe it to him?"

"No." Quietly. "To yourself."

Catch You

Flash rarely slept more than two hours at a time, and usually rolled off his bed at least once. Sometimes he remembered to put pillows on the floor.

After Brainiac, they took Wally home to his Central City apartment and put him to bed. He was slowing down, but his breathing was still a staccato stutter and his pulse a vibration, too fast to count individual beats.

They didn't put any pillows on the floor. Shayera sat on one side of the bed and John sat on the other, holding his hands as he slept, making sure he didn't fall.

Convictions

Maybe he wasn't listening. Not to anyone really there in the cell. Superman kept talking anyway. "Lex, the fusion cannon. You had precise control. You knew exactly what you were doing, and no one died. No casualties. You could've destroyed us forever, but you didn't. That was you, Lex. Not Brainiac."

He clasped Luthor's hand. "You were yourself then; you are now. I know you're strong enough to get through this."

Dark dead eyes slewed up to the hero's, drifted away, uninterested. The single voice sounding when he spoke was almost no voice at all. "And they call me mad."

I love the 2nd one! I think they'd make a wonderful OT3, I went on about it at length after watching Divided We Fall with a friend. :]

Love the other two, too, I actually stopped watching Smallville because I knew what was going to happen to Lex and I really, really liked him :/ I'm stuck in second season denial.

Hee! I totally agree on the OT3...(I saw John/Wally from the start, but then John/Shayera is really too cute, and Wally has the Shayera crush, so really - it's perfect!) And "Divided We Fall" - I've watched the last few minutes. Um. A lot. They're so very aww~!

& Lex is one of my all-time favorite fictional chars, in either SV or JLU, so...I watch SV with a healthy spoonful of Denial! And then get all flummoxed watching JLU, what with Flash being Michael Rosenbaum... XD

LOL, I love that bit! it's... very toonverse. Clark seeing red when it comes to Luthor, Bruce tunning down the melodrama. I just love to 'Not a Capulet' line, hee X)

Lovely OT3 drabble, too. It's an awesome OT3, I think it could really work.. and Divided we Fall was really full of woobie.

I totally can see JLU!Clark as a bitter ex :P His moodswings with Lex are vastly entertaining ("Come on! It's Lex flippin' Luthor!") And I love Lex in 5th season, for managing to still be a badass while being certifiably out of his gourd and talking to thin air.

And they're such OT3. Wally deserves it! The end of "Divided We Fall" is just all sorts of delicious woobie awesome. ^^

Thanks! I just watched JLU for the first time (lost track of it after 1st season and only rediscovered it when the bro pushed it on me when I saw him at the holidays) and totally loved it.

Currently in SV Lex is on track to become a supervillain; he's running LuthorCorp, secretly experimenting on meteor mutants, and marrying Lana Lang *gags quietly*. Why he went evil is kind of unclear. He mostly seems to have become embittered with no one trusting him and just gave up trying to be good. Very sad. (his dad drugging him, committing him, frying his brain with electroshock, and later poisoning him, probably didn't help the trust issues any...)
On the plus side, MR's eeeevil!Lex is the smex, so...there's always a silver lining!

(Yes, in the few episodes of Smallville I've seen, Lex does seem to get tortured a lot)

And yes, he is so totally the smex. He was instantly my favourite character in Smallville.

Well, the good new about the Lana-marriage is that it looks like he's using her in some no doubt diabolical way...she's carrying 'his' child at the moment (speculation abounds over whether it's really his kid, as he's conspiring with her doctor about the pregnancy but we don't know why...)

Lex is one of my all-time favorite characters - the SV variant especially, but I adore JLU's Lex and most comic book Lexes, too. But MR's is the first one to really bring on the sexy, so...and he and Clark are totally getting together anyway. JLU agrees! there must be love, for them to hate that much - and be that bitchy! love! ...yeah, I'm hopeless XD

Batmnan encouraging CLex, indeed. Very cute. And Convictions? Very nice. Very Clexy of the sort of Clex you've made me see in your fic and Lannings. Catch You is on the meaningless side to me, having no idea who the players are, but it seems a sweet enough piece.

Hee, glad you like 'em! Though "Convictions" probably wouldn't make total sense, not knowing the show; Lex is basically clinically insane (er, moreso) and borderline catatonic at that point...it's a long story ^^;

I badly want to write a post-finale Lex-returns-from-the-Source fic. Because there is something wickedly awesome about JLU Clex, and I wanna know if I could make it work. (I admit it, the couple times Superman panics about Lex in JLU, I squee like a little girl. pathetic, much? ^^)

OMG, me too, I want to write that Lex-returns-from-the-source fic too (well, in a way, Devil's Deal is that fic, only fast forwarded a few years.) Or fic where Lex is still connected to the Source (for some reason, I picture Source!Lex sort of like Q, harrassing the Justice League with his unlimited powers...)

And I squee at those scenes, too :D

*dies* Source!Lex = Q! that is simply awesome. He'd probably be a lot less bitchy as a god, what with his ambitions fulfilled; he could just have fun ^^

My main fear in writing post-Source fic would be that I'd steal from Devil's Deal! The little moment you mention, of Dr. Fate giving him the whiteboard, got to me. I have this image in my mind of the League finding Lex sequestered in one of his underground labs, covering notebooks and blackboards and walls and tables and everything else with equations, on the verge of hysteria because when he looks at what he wrote down just ten minutes before, he can't grasp it anymore...

And Clark would have to help him through it. It'd be the ultimate junkie withdrawal h/c story, supergenius-style (you gotta figure nothing could be addictive as omniscience, at least to Lex...)

Actually, speaking of art, in my recent, mad, must-do-SV-art craze, I want to do a pic for Devil's Deal, but there are so many different scenes I could draw, is there any particular one(s) you would like to see to maybe help narrow down the choice?

I'm not great at teamwork myself when it comes to cowriting, but our styles would be compatible, and you're such a damn fine writer (I can't believe you're only 21, and not a native English speaker! man! unfair amounts of talent!)
