xparrot: Chopper reading (screw the rules)

First, a random Smallville question. We haven't watched much of 5th season or the first half of 6th. In any of those, do we ever see Lex sleep? Or see his bedroom? The only time that we can recall him in bed is when he woke up in the hotel besides the murdered girl in "Bound," when he was drugged. He was snuggling on the couch with Lana-pooh in "Vessel," but might not have actually dozed off. We're wondering because there's multiple times it appears to be quite late at night, and Lex is still up and dressed - when he finds Clark in the road in "Rosetta", when he's attacked in "Shattered", when the manuscript is stolen in "Run". Does he actually sleep? Or does he get enough shut-eye from all the times he's been tasered/drugged/bonked on the head?

Heroes 1x17 - best ep yet. If this show keeps it up, I might have to take back my former objections. ([livejournal.com profile] gnine pointed out that many of our favorite scifi shows start out awful, so maybe it's a good sign.) Non-spoiler reaction - my favorite char got to be a badass! (I leave it as an exercise to the reader who my favorite char is. For hints I remind that I have bizarre tastes, an absurd glasses fetish, and a documented weakness for morally ambiguous assholes.) The first single-story focused ep of the season (tempered with a few B&W flashbacks of doom), and the strongest for it. Didn't hurt that this focus was on the Bennets (and what does it say about a show, that the high school cheerleader is consistently my favorite hero?) English TV hasn't quite worked out the kinks of arc shows; Heroes might have been better served if it had started out more episodic and moved into an arc, as opposed to flailing around and getting hopelessly tangled up in six million separate plot threads and counting, much like a kitten in a basket of comic book yarn.

At any rate, this ep was intense from start to finish, fast-paced and suspenseful, kept you guessing and made you feel. And Claire got to be a hero! About time! Repeat performance in New York with her uncle, maybe? "Save the cheerleader, save the world." Though it's tragic she's had to leave her home. What will become of Zack? I liked Zack. Every girl needs a cute gay best friend.

Also, props to Mr. Bennett! From the "Right hook--right hook, coming!" to the letting himself get shot and then mind-erased (moral ambiguity + intense if misguided familial loyalty = squee to the nth), I award him the second genuine act of badassery in a show in desperate need of it. (Eden's failed murder attempt and successful suicide count as first). And he did it without super powers. You go, dude. I am so hoping he becomes Matt's partner. Especially if he's all eeeevol and manipulative about it.

Though objections still remain. Am I the only one getting a little disturbed by Hiro and Ando? Or am I too sensitive? I loved them at first for their buddy act and their adorably odd Japanese, but they're such relentless comic relief that it's starting to pall, and they're...so damn stupid. I tell myself it's just their natures, not because they're Japanese, or English-as-second-language, but the way they behave like little boys all the time rubs me the wrong way. And Ando does not act like any Japanese man I've ever seen with women, even foreign women. That idiotic worship-the-blonde-and-follow-her-helplessly bit plays false. Maybe it's just me. But he's an adult man, not a ten-year-old crushing on his teacher. Also, why doesn't Hiro speak more English? For a standard salariman his skills are as expected, but if his father was grooming him to lead the company, and took him to NYC at least once as a boy, one would think that part of his education wouldn't have been neglected. And given Hiro's American comic book obsession, a little should have stuck...

Sadly we havn't seen Lex's bedroom at all, we don't even know if Lex sleeps at night since there's more evidence of him prowling around at an ungodly hour than getting some sleep.

Yeah, that was what I was afraid of. I wonder if he even has a bedroom...

We've seen Clark's bedroom, Lana's bedroom (every single one of them, more than once, especially this season), Chloe's bedroom, Lois' bedroom since she's living at the Talon now. This is very strange they haven't shown Lex's bedroom yet.

I don't think he has one! (either that, or he's so smexy asleep that they fear screens would explode. especially 'cause Lexy's gotta sleep in the nude. I can't see him even in silk pjs, somehow ^^)

Do you think they'll give him one if we ask very nicely? Fangirls would like to see more of MR pls, won't sue if screens explode from the smex. Ah too bad the TV guide question thing is over, we might have gotten our question answered for a lark.

I hear you about the Hiro thing but then again this show is North American so I'm too surprised that they screwed up here. I'm just glad that I ended up really enjoying the character, despite some of the annoying stereotypes that I've seen.

The portrayal of Japan is...interesting. (Okay, we paused on one of the Tokyo scenes and spent half an hour analyzing all that was wrong with it, but that's just how we get our kicks!) And I do like Hiro's char, and it wasn't really bothering me until recently, but..

I don't think we've ever seen Lex's bedroom, which is wierd. Perhaps it's adding to the entire 'money never sleeps' idea... I don't know.
I've not seen Heroes yet, but I would really like to at some point. As soon as it comes on TV or YouTube I'll be sure to switch on!

Considering he's has several lovers, and never seems to get it on with any of them there, I'm wondering if he even has a bedroom. Despite it being lovingly described in 1,001 various fanfics. Maybe every 7th day he crashes on the couch in his study (or which ever room it is with the couches, at least in 1st season we saw 'em a few times...)

Heroes has its ups & downs, but it's definitely got potential...

We've seen the guest bedroom and bathroom (used by Victoria), and the servant's quarters (used by the Palmers) of the mansion, but never Lex's bedroom. I think it's because of the limited shooting location/set where they re-use that library as office/living room/entertainment room/etc. for almost all of the interior Luthor mansion scenes.

I think I'd rather go with your smexy asleep in-the-nude theory. But maybe he sleeps in his cars. Or maybe he alternates sex-in-hotels and illegal-experiments-in-secret-labs every night (and interspersed with out-of-country trips and sleeping in current girlfriend's guest bedroom when it applies). Or maybe he sleeps in Clark's loft after they have all those secret offscreen sex.

In the comics, he always seems to sleep in the nude. Of course in the comics he has competent Security -- Mercy and Hope.
