Of all the finales I was braced for this season, I didn't expect the one to screw me over would be my nice fluffy casual crush Numb3rs. How could you do this to us, show? Why him? *whimper*
Current Music:gnine flipping out in the background
Hey, whatever happened at least IT got renewed. (I'm sorry, I'm still just really bitter about the Jericho thing. It was a CLIFFHANGER! *tears at hair*)
I usually don't either.... hell, I barely watch any TV at all anymore. But it was PostApoc! My bulletproof kink! I couldn't resist..... and now I have the biggest head of fannish bitterness going on that I've had in years.
I hadn't seen the teasers/ads for this episode so I didn't even know that sort of thing was on the table. I was totally caught unaware and quite pissed. *pouts* I liked him.
I never see teasers (am not in the country to watch when the ep airs) and I don't follow the show close enough to get spoilers, so yeah, I had no clue this was coming. I was scared he was going to die, but then this...no! He was one of my faves (and now I've lost one of my favorite side-char slash duos...he and David were cute, darn it!)
hehehe, that was totally what went through my head, "Oh no! David's lost his boyfriend!" I only slash them mentally, but it's still sad. And it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. *pouts*
Awww, what did it do to you? Did it kill someone? Will it be okay next season, or did they screw you up for good? Did it at least get renewed? It sound bad! I worry! *hugs*
It did get renewed, but I don't know what'll be happening next season. It's unlikely this can be fixed...they didn't kill the char (which I was scared was going to happen, but this is worse); they made him a traitor, a double agent spy, and he's been one for his entire time on the show. The betrayal is going to shake up or destroy the team, and also he was my favorite of the supporting chars, and I was sort of slashing him, and...awww! Sad!
Awww! That's really bad! Almost worse than killing, but there are ways of fixing it? Right? Right! But, but - no! That's a very sad thing to have happen to a beloved character. *hugs*
In some ways I do have to give the show credit, because they managed to give the audience the exact same gut-punch that the chars in the show are feeling, hurt betrayal. And now it looks like there's a chance he might come back - the show creators (who are a very online presence) are saying no one in the cast is leaving, so...
I know! And I loved the episode up until that moment! Being a (platonic) Don + Charlie fan (Charlie's got the best puppy dog eyes in the business) I was absolutely loving the way both brothers connected with the MI-6 guy -- it was like he resonated with them in different ways, and made each of them wonder what they were leaving behind. And I liked the way, in the end, what each of them admired in him was not what they saw in themselves, but what they saw in their brother.
And then they made Colby a traitor *sobs* He was like so rock solid, like the one thing you could depend upon was Colby being the straight-shooter he was, and now I feel like I never knew the character I'd just gotten three years getting to know. And poor David! (They made such a cute couple!) Ironically I feel sort of like the members of his team must feel -- hurt and betrayed.
Yeah, the last few eps have had some really nice Don & Charlie parts. Much as I like all the chars I'm glad to see the brothers back in the spotlight, and the way they were seeing each other in the guy was great. Also Don's moment of Charlie-vision with the bridge, hee! aww!
But Colby! I have to almost admire the show, because of what you say - it managed to inspire the exact emotions as the chars are feeling, horrified & pained disbelief. They didn't have to dwell on the chars' emotions because we were all going through them ourselves! (though...if you don't mind spoilers...it sounds like this might not be the whole story...)
(and there were such cute Colby/David moments in the ep, too! So cruel!)
Spoil away! You're talking to someone who, after it looked in the manga like Aoshi had joined forces with Shishio went around asking any and everyone who had either read it in Japanese or seen the anime if Kenshin managed to knock some sense into him.
Why do you think this might not be the whole story?
According to the show's creators, the entire cast is coming back next season, and even after the ep aired, one of them was saying Dylan Bruno would not be leaving the show. And I can't see how he could stay on as a spy. So we're wondering if he might be a triple agent (and we're wondering if Don knows, considering he didn't seem much affected...)

I did like how Charlie and Don were though, much better. But the betrayal? wahhhhh
