As the entire flist is going on about Pirates 3, I gotta throw my two cents in. Saw it yesterday and loved it. I'd have to see it again to be sure but I think it was my favorite of the trilogy. Truth be told, I was the only fangirl on the planet who didn't care for the first movie...I dunno, it just didn't grab me. But Dead Man's Chest was a blast and At World's End manages to surpass it by going over the top in every single conceivable direction, action, f/x, maelstroms, backstabbing, music, melodrama...like Jack Sparrow, it's loud, ridiculously nonsensical, a drama queen and and more than a little silly, but so darn charming you can't help but succumb.
-- The constant betrayals were hysterical, every one.
-- Poor Norrington! But he redeemed himself. Yays!
-- 9 pieces of eight! Heh, that just cracked me up all the way through. And then the actual pieces in question...
-- Rather quite loved the end. I never cared much about Will/Elizabeth one way or another but they were wicked cute when they finally decided to hell with it, they were going to be tragic lovers no matter what. The marriage ceremony was almost as good as that at the end of The PeaceKeeper Wars. And then! Tragedy! Jack doing the right thing! Triumph! Tragedy anyway! Then sex! Aww.
-- Speaking of the wedding, Barbossa is teh awesome. Well, he is all the way through. But especially there. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here..."
-- Out of curiosity, is Elizabeth stillKaizoku-Oh Pirate King? When did she find the One Piece, anyway?
-- Will is going to be so much a better Dutchman Captain than Davy Jones was, or Jack would've been. (I heard a rumor that there was a cut scene explaining that the curse could be broken if the captain found true love? So it might be broken at the movie's end? Which would be nice for them, but I like it either way.)
-- Besides, would you really mind dying at sea if he were the one coming to get you?
-- Because yeah, I don't have much in the way of respect for Orrie's 'acting' talents, but the silver & scar suit his scrawny ass like a crazy hot thing. MMMM.
-- Am I the only one who was totally awwing at Davy Jones & Calypso? So tragic. And they love each other anyway, even with the betrayals and hatred. Awww.
-- All of the above is thinking way too much about a movie that really doesn't need to be thought about; the important thing is SWASHBUCKLING ON SHIP MASTS! WHILE SWINGING ON ROPES! WHILE GOING DOWN A GIANT WHIRLPOOL! Now that is action.
We also watched the final four eps of Heroes. Don't have much to say, but...
Sylar! Wins! In future evil bad-ass-ery and in present angst!
Yay for heroes (Hiros) who go darkside over friends dying. Awws!
So in the future Peter Petrelli is destined to become Neo? Huh, now. Wake me when Agent Smith shows up.
Matt is really very likable for no particular reason, which makes me like him even more.
Mr. Bennet - Noah! He has a first name! - continues to be my favorite character by so very much.
Especially if they just killed Nathan. No! Why'd you have to pick now to go be a good guy, Nathan? Even if you did go out being as incesty as it is possible to be with your brother. Umm. They were kissing when Peter exploded. You cannot convince me otherwise.

Date: 2007-05-30 04:39 am (UTC)The future ep was great fun! Very X-men-esque and I didn't see Sylar coming, he really is a worthy arch-villain! --and yeah, Matt in the future was an ass, but so was everyone! There were no real heroes then, everyone had gone totally darkside. Which is what made it fun but also something to fight against with all they've got...!
Mr. Bennet, eee! Badass who still hugs his daughter, that was so cute...and yeah, Mohindar & Molly are adorable. Adoptive daddies always are...
Very curious where the show's going next year, now!

Date: 2007-05-30 07:30 am (UTC)Bennet's going to help kick them all into proper hero-shape? Go after the baddies? (Tho' I like that they aren't sharply defined good/bad - makes it more interesting.) He could recruit his old partner to help him - LOVE Invisi!man's training methods. XD Beat emo-boy with a stick! Throw him off a building! (Helps that I'm having a hug fan-crush on Christopher Eccleston's Doctor Who...)
Next year - samurai!!

Date: 2007-05-30 11:06 am (UTC)YES! Doctor Who is awesome British fun, and if you want to start with the Christopher Eccleston Doctor, that's just 13 (?) eps, so it's a fast watch. Goes down like candy - "oh, that was good, I think I'll have just one more...". Plus, it's a piece of sci-fi history, even if you're not watching the "old" eps. There's stuff in there that's as much a part of my general fan knowledge (Daleks, the TARDIS, etc) as stuff out of Star Trek - even though I'd never seen any Dr. Who before last week!
Plus - yeah, it's making me squee. A lot. ♥ Don't wanna spoil anything, but I had did squee vaguely about it in my LJ.
