fic: A Whisper to the Living

So here's that fic I was talking about before. Let me just establish for the record that this story is pretty much nothing like the show whatsoever. It's not really dark-fic except in that it's a tragedy written for a comedy, and, uh, no, I have no idea what is wrong with me.

Concerning Psych, this vid which I can't stop watching perfectly captures what it's really about, that is, zany antics and cute chars being idiotic. And idiotically cute. --Incidentally the last ep (mid-season hiatus finale, dang cable shows) was much with the hysterical, between the ducking at 'retirement' and Kevin Sorbo and the various frantic dives for the phone and "Been a long time since we've napped together" and also Lassie called him Shawn! Is that the first time? Like, omg squee!!!1! (...okay, yes, I'm fanning on this show more than I ought to be. I dunno, I can't help it.) Though I could've done without the final scene, oh please, show, don't go there, I love Juliet to bits but please, no.

Anyway. Here's the fic that I didn't mean to write. Plotted in collusion with gnine, because two angst-loving fangirls are always worse than one, and we have a bad tendency to ask 'What if...?' a lot. I'm not actually going to say that the best ideas here were hers, but...they probably were.

WARNINGS: Character death. Considering how I hate deathfic as a rule, it's odd how many I find myself writing. Also, there's no pairings. Sorry, 'shippers, I'm all about the gen in this fandom.

Ah, not reading now, but you'll be glad to know that we've taken this rainy Sunday to start watching the show! Three episodes in, and we've laughed quite a bit. It really is cute! And funny! And I don't know if an angsty AU deathfic is exactly what I would think of when going "hmm, what if I were to write a fic for this show", but you know - you two are CRAZY. And I love you. ♥

Anyway! You're nuts, and if I can work up the courage to be thoroughly traumatized, I'll read this as soon as we've watched a bit more of the show.

Eeeeheeee! Isn't it a fun show? It gets better as it goes along, too, the chars all become more likable. And then you start crushing on Shawn while smacking yourself because you really ought not to like him so, but, uhh, he really is charming, for such a total idiot.

Well, this isn't my first (or only, eheh) fic for Psych...it's just 'cuz we were talking, and...ummm. Well. If you watch a bit more of the show...it's consistently a goofy comedy, but the chars do have a certain depth to them that lends itself to fanalysis.

Hope you enjoy being traumatized, when you build up the courage to be, as always I'm excited to have you reading my stuff! XD

...it's not our fault, it just sorta started as a "but what if...no, he'd never act like that...unless..." sorta thing....oops? Yes, yes we are crazy.

And also, the more you watch of the show, the more (at least for us) it starts pushing the RGB buttons of "oh look, cute, funny show with people who clearly care about each other WHY ARE THEY NOT BEING HURT?!?! Where is the AGONY? The worry?! The COLLAPSING!!!" err...okay, so perhaps we have...unusual buttons? ^_-

And, the combination has convinced me. You have to watch The Shield. It's no longer a "maybe"--you really need to. Acquire it, watch it.
