I am going! To Japan! In a month!

My first time. My sis gnine has been studying away in Kyoto for the past semester, having the time of her life. So before she comes back, I'm going out for a week and a half at the end of April. Only been trying to get over there for...about four years? But finally I got it together, cleared it with my jobs (they were very nice about it, considering I just started the library position last month, and now I'm asking for 2 weeks off...have the vacation time for it, though, since I've been temping at Cornell for almost a year. s'all good!)

Bought my tickets yesterday - cheaper than I was expecting, too, which means more money for manga! ^_^ Manga! and doujinshi! and posters! and j-drama to rent! and mangaka and seiyuu to stalk! wonder if the OP movie will still be in the theaters... To say nothing of Kyoto and all its history and art, and Tokyo, and I want to ride the shinkansen, and eat takoyaki and okonomiyaki, and...I'm going to Japan!

...It's gonna be a long month...

In other news, have updated my main site with all my recent fic. Been a year since updates...took me all afternoon to get everything up. But now you can read my fic without descending into the Pit of Voles (except the WIPs, which I'm waiting 'til they're done to post. And they will be done...really! stop looking at me like that! It's not my fault, I've been terribly busy of late torturing a certain blond cook at work.) If there's any broken links, lemme know! (I've also removed my email from the site, except as a graphic, to try to cut down on the spam I've been buried in. Suspect this is a case of closing the barn door after the horse has run away and won the Kentucky Derby, but it makes me feel better...)

I have stories on my site posted under my real name, under XmagicalX, and now X-parrot. Am not bothering to do anything about this. Is online dissociative identity disorder yet listed as a diagnosable condition?

Congratulations! You're going to have so much fun! And April's a good time! It won't be so terribly hot as it gets in the summer. And you have to go see Nara and the holy deer! Sanzo's buried there (http://www.yamasa.org/japan/english/destinations/nara/yakushiji.html), so I think a visit might be almost obligatory. ;D

Lol, he's not Xuanzang of course, but I thought you'd might be as amused as I was when I saw the name. :D

If you do go, be sure to bring some sunglasses as the deer's antlers (http://www.gulbransen.net/photos/japan/places/pages/501.Nara-Deer.htm) are right about eye level if you're 5'6-ish like me. And they're a bit aggressive as everyone feeds them.

Very cute though. And the temples are gorgeous.
