xparrot: Chopper reading (sga atlantis)
[personal profile] xparrot
Just got home, just heard - canceled. Damn it! Why now?

I admit I've been dreading this since I heard they were running the season straight through, rather than showing the second half in January. SciFi wanted to avoid revitalizing the Save Our Show campaigns. Which of course exist already ([livejournal.com profile] fight_for_sga), but I don't have much hope here. The showrunners are happy enough to have movies and move onto Stargate: Universe. Five years is a good run. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed the SG-1 movies, neither were better than mediocre episodes of the show, so it's hard to hope for something great (especially since Mallozzi & Mullie are writing it...and ow, the thought of no more Binder or Gero or McCullough eps, after this...)

Damn it. I just wanted one more season. I would've been out of it in another year (I never stay in a fandom that long) and while I still would've been watching, it wouldn't hurt. Now...now, it hurts. Couldn't they at least have waited to tell us until after "The Shrine" aired? Instead of spoiling all that glorious anticipation?

We've got 15 eps left. Damn it, they better all be awesome...

So it's not all gloom & doom: [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper's got some nice points on the positive aspects of a closed canon (which, as a McShepper, I totally appreciate the end of jossing, as much as it hurts now.) And [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon provides warm fuzzies as always.

And I'll find something new soon enough, I always do.

...Even if it won't have David Hewlett's Rodney McKay. *whimper*
