January is almost up. Ever had that feeling that time itself is whizzing by you like the steepest street of San Francisco after your trolley car's brakes were cut? Yeah, it's been like that. It's not even that I've been busy, particularly, it's just that I constantly am feeling like I have no time for anything, that I'm losing hours no matter how tightly I try to hold onto them.

This hasn't stopped my TV watching, however. Random thoughts in no order (mostly spoiler-free, cut when not)

Burn Notice: The only reason I can't slash Michael/Sam is that Michael is so Fiona-sexual that it hurts. So, obviously - threesome! (maybe the two of them together can make Fi eat something. I love her but her shoulder blades freak me out.)

Starsky & Hutch: I've had most of it on DVD for a while but gnine hasn't seen a lot of it, so we're sampling. It's easy to forget just how smarm-y this show is, in the best of ways. I mean, yes, slashy obviously, but it's so, hmm, innocent about it, that it's really more smarm, the ideal fraternal love. Oh, the touching! So much touching of faces and gripping shoulders and hugging and stuff. (That being said, really, yes, SLASHY with a capital OMG-SO-DOING-IT. Also, I'm not usually into order, I don't tend to care or spend much time contemplating who's topping who, but Hutch is such a classic bitchy uke, making jealous faces in the background whenever laidback bi seme Starsky is shmoozing the ladies.)(And what was with the episode with their murdered cop friend who turned out to have been having a gay affair, and Starsky was tweaked and Hutch was very, hmm, circumspectly understanding about the whole deal...)

Soul Eater: naye is dragging me back into animanga, and I have to admit I missed it. Loving a shounen means never having to say you're sorry that your favorite character is not only named Professor Stein (first name Franken) but also has a GIANT BOLT THROUGH HIS HEAD. No, seriously, A GIANT BOLT. Oh, anime!

Scrubs: I'm enjoying the new season. It's pretty low-key, but they've been advancing the characters, it seems, especially in this latest ep, with Cox taking the job, and Elliot finally getting over a bit of herself. I really hope this is the last season as promised, because it feels like it's winding up in a satisfying way, that the characters are actually going somewhere - not anywhere huge, but that they truly have changed and grown. And hell, I'll admit it, I'm rooting for JD & Elliot to make it. When they work out, they're kind of pathetically adorable.



The Sentinel: S&H made us reminisce, so we went and got a few eps to watch. SO slashy. I wasn't into slash then and I'm still amazed that I missed it (seeing as I wasn't into slash when I was in the fandom, does anyone happen to have any good Jim/Blair fic recs lying around? Preferably h/c-laden, you know me!)

SGA: My fic mojo slipped its leash and ran away. :( If you happen to see a big ol' ball of fluff with adorably geeky OTP ears and a few angst-spots, please call 555-TEAM.

Ya, Sentinel was so slashy, that even my NON-slashy, non-fanish friends got it! I watched Sentinel sporatically (as when it was on, but didn't search for it). We happened to be doing the TV watching thing, actually quietly, not making any comments one night when my friends husband walked into the room, stood behind the couch for a few moments (neither of them is slashy, and he's not very fanish). It was the episode where Blair was stuck in the elevator and late for metting Ellison for lunch.

Out of the blue, he comments 'Yea, they're sleeping together' and WALKS AWAY. To say our jaws dropped and the three of us watching turned to him and went "WHAT?!" as he left was an understatement. We weren't even being 'catty' to the TV with commentary! (so it wasn't like he was repeating anything we were talking about) He was like, no man would be THAT worried that a friend was a few minutes late for lunch meeting.

Oh show, so slashy, and to this day, we get giggles at the out of the blue comment by my friends husband. Because he's the most oblivious person on the planet.

Wah! You're watching Scrubs? ...ah, well. I've got enough things to watch, but now I'm curious...! Except. Maybe I'm better off without watching anything with relationship problems for a while longer. ^^;

I love Burn Notice too, and I have to agree about the three of them just needing to be a threesome. Maybe we'd finally get to see what Sam does to all of those women of his... ^_^

Oh, thank goodness. I just caught the show for the first time last night and was seriously disturbed over how skinny she was. It's kinda like watching a walking skeleton.

However, using the phone books to armour the car was AWESOME. Wondering how factual it is.

Hmm, I don't know about J, but sure, I'd be willing to rewatch, if you'd like giggle-company! (except maybe that one ep that was just sad - another medical drama/dying patient ones, those just get to me. But otherwise - the last ep especially was very cute ^^)

Yeah, I like Fi a lot, but the actress's look is kinda unhealthy...

I don't know how accurate any of the stuff in BN is, but it all sounds super-cool! The Mythbusters should totally take it on sometime...it is the modern MacGyver, after all!

"X-Character-sexual" is an old fan phrase, but Michael is one of the more extreme examples of the type - he really doesn't appear to be turned on by anyone but Fi! ...which I kinda find adorable, I gotta admit ^^

Have fun with Sentinel! I watched most of the series when I was into the show (during its final two season on the air), but I didn't appreciate the slash (shocks me now that I missed it!)

Michael keeps a lot of yogurt on hand for her, at least!

I have known a couple people that thin naturally - no ED, just active lifestyles and super-high metabolisms. Especially with the stresses of acting, she might find it difficult to put on weight. I do wonder about the actress, though, especially in that profession - high risk factors, as you say. (I just hope she's not *encouraged* to look like this - if that's her natural body type, that's one thing, but if the show producers are actually encouraging it...well, I hope not.)

It's a 3rd season ep called "Death in a Different Place" - a (married with children) cop friend of theirs gets murdered in a sleazy dive, and when investigating they learned that he's kept a room there for years to maintain a secret gay affair. It's an interesting examination of the issues at the time.
