xparrot: Chopper reading (muncle old skool)
[personal profile] xparrot
[livejournal.com profile] gnine has made another vid! At my, er, suggestion. My wicked so-wrong-it's-SO-RIGHT suggestion. (Come on! It's Russian! It's perfect!) In case you've been wondering: yes, here is definitive proof that MUNCLE (and Illya) really is that gay. Seriously, it was the Merlin of its time.

Malchik-gey

(And then there's the delightful My Brown-Eyed Boy, which offers compelling evidence that Napoleon is in fact even gayer than his partner, or at least swishier...)

Just finished watching the Scrubs finale. Loved it myself (I think this season's been really strong, am hoping it is the last, because it would be nice for it to go out so brightly) - the themes of goodbyes, the way life inevitably changes...yeah, resonating really strongly with me now. It was pouring all day today, and the the streets smelled clean and wet when I went out tonight, more like rain-damp stone than concrete. I never thought that a city could smell good, but Kyoto can. I'm going to miss my city...

Feel free to answer that it's none of my business, I'm being a bit noisy, but how come you need to leave Japan when you obviously love living there ?

Ah, it's a little hard to explain - basically, the situation I have right now is coming to an end thanks to other factors - people leaving, and such - and if I wanted to stay, I'd have to find a new place and a new job and such. And as much as I do enjoy living in Japan, I don't see a future for myself here - I really don't want to be an English teacher all my life, and there's not much else in the way of job opportunities, and there's a lot about America that I miss. I do feel it's time for me to leave, I have for a while; it's just that now the actual moment is arriving, I'm struggling with it. I had almost as much trouble picking up my roots to move here - change never comes easily to me! But, yeah. It's time. Just melancholy about it..

I understand much better, thanks :).

In any case I wish you luck for your move back to America ^_^ !

Ahahahah - believe it or not, I still have hopes of finishing Tiger Hunt. ^^; I totally love that story...I still love OP, too (actually, that's one of my problems writing TH - I have so much respect for Oda Eiichirou's storytelling skills that I feel a bit, hmm, embarrassed, trying to write his characters - "I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!" Also there's all the new crewmates and such, so TH is a bit outdated...)

But don't worry, it doesn't bother me! I've read WiP myself and been driven absolutely batty that they aren't finished, I know how frustrating they are. I've stopped posting them because I know how annoying it is...it was irresponsible for me to post Tiger Hunt unfinished, even though I've been tremendously gratified by the response it's gotten. Yes, I do still want to finish it. But I can't promise when, and yeah, frustrating!

I know how TH ends - I have all along - and if you'd like, I can tell you - just ask, I can tell it to you ^^

Hmm - I just tried to send you a private lj message, but you have the settings turned off? Do you have an email addy? I'd prefer not to post an open comment with the end of TH, as I'm trying to keep it on the down-low.

Yes, I teach English in Japan - or did; I've quit now and am leaving at the end of the month. I taught at a private school - eikaiwa, it's called, conversational English teaching (You can find some frank info on eikaiwa here.) If you've graduated from an English-speaking university, it's pretty easy to get a job - a little harder now with the economic downturn, but still, yeah, it's definitely worth checking out, if you're interested in Japan. JET: http://www.jet-uk.org/ is also worth checking out - I've had friends who did it and enjoyed it, and it pays quite well, from what I know...
